Spec Check - New Build

What's the main use of the system?

Personally I'd switch the Z68 motherboard for an H77 - you are buying a locked CPU so I'm guessing overclocking isn't something you're considering. That way you get native USB 3.0 support and no worries that it might be an old board shipping without an Ivy Bridge compatible BIOS on the board. Personally I like ASUS boards so would go with something like this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...cie-30-(x16)-d-sub-(vga)-dvi-d-hdmi-micro-atx

Memory looks quite expensive, I'd look at these:
Kingston (£42.99): http://www.ebuyer.com/190385-kingston-16gb-ddr3-1600mhz-xmp-hyperx-memory-khx1600c9d3k4-16gx
Corsair (£58.99): http://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb...00-(1600)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-9-9-9-24-15v

I'm not sure there is much point in that GeForce GT 630 either, they're kind of weedy and not that cheap. I'd either use the integrated graphics or take the saving from the memory and get a GTX 650.

That's good advice. It's primarily for editing but with a little gentle gaming.

Forgot to say, it's for a technophobe so there will be no overclocking happening.

If you want to play some games then I'd go with the GTX 650 then. :)

Pricing it up it comes over budget.

That one is preorder. I've found the part from ebuyer and dabs between them only a tenner over. I can live with that. :)

Would only having two memory slots be of concern?

****, just ordered! quick, find me a bloody replacement!

From ebuyer, please. :)

That one only has two memory slots too. ;)

Never mind, I went with my original choice as overclocking wasn't gonna happen. Thanks again :)

lol, loved the panic part!

Spending someone else's money had me panicking. I cut the name of the linked mobo into ebuyer and it came up as two rather than four.
