Spartacus my 52...Week 26 Night...Sorry I’m late...:(

I love the Identity shot and I too thought it combined surprise with identity :D

Great lighting and great take on the idea.:clap:

The Reshoot made me laugh out loud. No way would either of my cats sit still for that.

This week has been so hectic you wouldn’t believe...not only have I been doing my normal work but like a fool offered to decorate my sister in-laws front room this weekend...

So this is my poor effort for this week...I’ve only just took it about an hour ago...

It’s supposed to be Pearls of Wisdom...

PearlofWisdom1.jpg

Things I’ve Learnt this week
1.Don’t volunteer to decorate at the weekend, it stops you being creative.
2.If you don’t have a backup plan then you’re in trouble.
3.You can play around with what you do have till the cows come home but it’s still going to be a pig’s ear.

Its a beautiful image Spartacus, not sure I would have guessed the pearls of wisom but I like the image.

Excellent....needs nothing more to be said!!
Jon

Perls of wisdom excellent idea :)

Once you know the title it works very well, i think the problem is their not obviously peals, thus it isn't the first thing to come to mind. The images is lovely though :)

What a fantastic image! How did you get such a nice blue gradient? The colours and "warmth" of the shot are spot on. As said, I didn't guess they were pearls of wisdom at first! I thought of prayer beads :)

Excellent image, :agree:. Wouldn't have guessed at pearls of wisdom, but that doesn't detract from a corker. Print it and hang it.

Wow! As said above, I needed your explanation to realise the pearls of wisdom link but it doesn't matter one bit to me - Beautiful image!!!

This is a very striking image - very arty! Again - not sure about pearls of wisdom, mainly cos they look more like beads than pearls... but still good thinking on the theme! I dont think the image would have worked as well if you could see the colour of the pearls etc. - I think the blue hue makess the composition stand out more strongly. I like :)

It's already been said, it needs the explanation, but that's not a problem. Beautiful shot:thumbs:

Well another week and it's a carry on from last week with my work load at the moment...

Although saying that it was my parents 59th Anniversary this week and I took the day off to take them put for a outing to their favorite place...Weston super Mare...(notice the lack of the pier)

Well to cut a long story short I was going to photograph them holding hands...

But I saw this lovely shot in front of me and loved it from the start...
I have not idea who they are or what's being said but it's a moment in time of a mother and child...

Things I've Learnt the week...

1. Will be glad to get back to normal and relax with my camera.

2. Keep your eyes open and that magic moment will happen.

3. I promise to comment on the other 52s when I get a minute to myself.

Splendid shot Marcus - really well spotted and composed!

Point 2 is very well made and one I subscribe to!

Corking image that does the theme proud :)!

I like it, the pier does dominate the shot, which detracts from the human interaction / relationship somewhat but once you notice the human element it makes the shot. In fact you then have two relationships, mother and daughter and their relationship with the environment around them.

Top marks for what proved to be a very challenging theme.

Mark

I like the take on the theme, but it does look very underexposed or too heavy on the contrast IMHO. The figures are somewhat lost. Sorry if its harsh.....not meant to be!!

I think you might be the class swot for me this week, really like this image.

Its really well composed, and makes me stop and wonder what is being said.

Great effort.

Really like it Marcus  it's a great take on the theme.

Well this week I decided to put in a bit more effort with regards to information on this week’s subject...

In September 1679, John Lanyon bequeathed £300 for the use of the poor people of the new parish and for the building an Almshouse. In October 1678 the site in Green Street was conveyed, for the sum of £50 3s. When the buildings were completed in 1680, they were conveyed by Martyn and his partners to the Corporation, who held them until they were forced to hand them over to the board of Guardians in 1708 Lanyon’s bequest eventually proved insufficient to maintain the properties so some other bequests, including £100 left by Mr John Gubbs, was added to the fund.

Following the demolition of the “Old Church Twelve’s” in 1868, these Almshouses were rebuilt the following year with enlarged accommodation. They remain on the same site opposite the remains of Charles Church, although now fronting the Charles Cross roundabout rather than in the peace and quiet formerly when they were in Green Street.

Things I’ve learnt this Week

1.How could I have driven past these houses for years and not realised their history.

2.Sometimes you need to get out of the car and wonder around your towns/cities and appreciate what’s on your doorstep.

3.This truly put poverty in perspective for me.

It's easy to forget when you're away from the UK how much history there is and it also makes you think about how hard life was for all but the fortunate few in the not so distant past. Well thought out take on this weeks theme, Marcus!

A very thought provoking shot, well done,

I am nearing the end of an English Degree so having the chance to test my Olde English skills was fun!!

I have heard of trust funds that were set up by local churches to help those most in need, but never houses, it made me wonder who lives there today!

The shot itself is nice and clear and has a good angle. I would have liked to see what it looked like in colour, but sometimes these things just don't work in colour and we are not supposed to post more than one. So I guess I'll just have to wonder. :D

Wow love the way you have presented the shot this week, very well done indeed.

BTW my Gran used to live in Bedworth Alms houses and my Aunty Lives there now, they are lovely buildings :D

I agree with Ruth, you have presented these well, interesting background story too.

Well done.

Excellent image Marcus, the picture is well presented, well thought out and laid out, and fits the theme really well.

There's a rich tapestry around most towns and villages in the UK, there is around here too.

Hello Marcus, I'm back UP :D

A great set of shots

The Wisdom one, as already has been said, is a wall hanger :clap::clap:

Relationships, what a gob-smacking shot. At first you don't see the people, and then, when you do, you just sit and wonder and they become the focal point. Excellent capture young man :clap:

Poverty - you're right about not noticing what's around you, driving past the same stuff everyday it's just wallpaper. So not only did you give us another great shot, we got our eyes opened too. Well done you

And thanks for your support too

Relationships - fab shot and I completely agree with point 2. All too often we miss what's right in front of us!

Which brings us quite neatly to Poverty - again a great idea and I think you have presented the images in a very nice format

Well I've had yet another busy week so apologies for my effort this week...:gag:

I did go out today and take about 20 shots, but I didn't like very many when it came to it...

So although this won't be to everyone's taste it's the only one I had a liking for in the end...

I know it's a bit of a cheat, but when the time you set aside for this weeks project goe's out the window what can you do...

Things I've learnt this week
1. Must fine more time...
2. Must make sure plan B is ready to step in...
3. Must make more effort for next week...

Made me smile!!

Don't beat yourself up - I think this is a neat idea and I love the pp work. The light on the hand is great and the selective colouring works really well.

A simple idea (only obvious to someone who had the nous to think of it :bang:), good composition and full marks as far as I'm concerned.:clap:

Jean

I actually think that works really well, your being a little self critical there, I would have been really chuffed with this.

The highlight on the hand looks almost blown out on my monitor(might just be my monitor), I might have tried to pull that back in a little, other than that, I really like it, the cobbled background is good too.

Well done.

Works for me to, good shot. I have to agree on the back of the hand, looks a little bright, but other than that

I think thats great, The selective colour really works well and the "pop" on the can is great
