What do you think C & C welcome

I quite like it but personally think it might be better in B&W so the counter top colour doesn't detract from the steel.

Think you might need to remove a few spots to make the image a little more effective

Thanks...thats what I need a second look from people.

Yes I think I will try it in B&W....as for the dirty spots...damn that dishwasher:bang:

Great take on the idea :clap:, and as for the dishwasher spots, unfortunately for us, the sensor sees everything :naughty:

Good luck for the next 51

Good idea, definately agree with the bw idea to lose the worktop a bit. Good luck, I'm already fretting about History and what I can do that's original.

Beats doing it by hand! My dishwasher broke down before Christmas :'( Can you repost the B&W one Spartacus just for a comparison when you've got the time on this thread

Nicely done, that's worked really well. Good luck for History and the remaining 51

but I can put on a nice border:lol:

any c & c welcome as always:thumbs:

really like the black and white actually
would be nice if you could take it on a white sheet of paper at somepoint see what it looks like

Is that a shadow at the bottom centre or the rounded corner of a worktop?

Great shot, didn't see any spots till somebody mentioned them.

Good start - and I favour the B&W version :)

I like the dof going on here :)

Good idea - I also prefer the B&W

Black & White one for me. Nice idea too!

We have so much history here in Plymouth I didn't know where to start:

Decided on something I rememberd seeing from this site a while back, so I can't take credit for the original idea.

The clock tower is a famous local land mark known as Derry's Clock and the large building to the right was the Wiltshire & Dorset bank.

Photo taken 1902.

The dark building to the left is now the back of Theatre Royal and the large building to the right is a pub...yes you guessed it it's called the Bank

Things I've Learnt:

1. You can't always stand in the foot steps of the photographer from 107 years ago.

2. Lining up the same angle is not easy.

3. I was recording history just the same as the unknown photographer had all that time ago. So the next time I think that's just not worth bothering with....give it a second look because things change and you just might regret it one day.

An eloquent example of history! I like the idea and execution and your 3rd point is extremely well made!

What looks ordinary today might just look extraordinary in 20, 50, 100 years time!

really nice idea. shows how thing change over time.

That clock is the mark they used to take the mileage from to mark on the roadsigns. So when it says 14 miles to Plymouth it actually means 14 miles to Derry's clock!

Great start to the year - love the knifes and forks and the idea for history - nice to seee how things change

I love this 'then and now' idea. Compared with many places, the changes are comparatively few. What struck me immediately (no pun intended) was the time yours was taken - excellent positioning of the clock's hands.

A great interpretation of History - and in 100 years' time somebody might be adding another photo and commenting on how things have changed since 2009. :)

Well I've had a great week taking lots of photo's of all sorts of subjects...

but trying to make my brain work harder than normal don't come easy

So decided on something my wife is always going on about to me...and what I need to do everytime we shop...

Things I've Learnt this week

1. Sometime you don't need to go out in the rain and cold...just look around the house.

2. It's been good spending so much time and getting acquainted with my camera again.

3. I'm having more fun with my camera than in the last 18 months.

Love the history shot, that's brilliant. It looks pretty close to where the original was shot. I like what you've done for learning and it's clear what your wife is looking for (I get the same thing ;) ). I can't work out what you did though, very clever.

Funnily enough Marcus a similar idea flittered through my head earlier in the week but you've done a much better job on it than I could have :)

I love the composition and how you've emphasised the key information :)

And the B&W works for me (it always does :))

And I love your 3 points especially #3 - That what its all about :D

I really like all your shots so far - nice to see a different interpretation of the themes

I also considered something along the lines of number three as I have vowed to start eating better from monday so will be taking your wifes advice!

Nice shot. Like the conversion seems to suit the subject well. Creative interpretation. Well done

really like the way you've done that! Very clever stuff. Completely agree with the points you made too. I've been loving doing this so far and just the kick in my bum I needed to pick up the camera more! Can't say I'm looking forward to next weeks though, it's a bit of a stinker and I'm feeling completely inspiration free on this one...

Something different there - and the selective focus type effort works really well
As Jean said, simple ideas work best :)
