Hello all. I have a large-ish spare room which I am currently using as a studio, with lights, background etc. So far family and friends only but expansion is definitely on the horizon.

If in due course I wanted to shoot portraits of members of the public in it (i.e. as a business), does anyone know if I need any permission from the council etc, as I would be using it as a business premises?

I am self employed, so work from home anyway, but might bringing in clients change things?

Thought I would rather ask here first before approaching the planning authorities ....:bang:

I think, from experience of being a homebased worker, you will need to notify your mortgage provider (if you have one) and your insurance company as well as the council.
