I have a Panasonic G2 and I'm needing to carry a spare battery but I'm not keen on spending £70 on one.... I have seen one that is compatible for £25 and I'm wondering if this is a good idea ?

It says if we update the firmware in future it may not work !! Am I likely to update the firmware ?

This is the battery in question

I get mine for my Canon 50d from 7Dayshop. Significantly cheaper and no problems.

I think the majority of user.s here use compatibles without issue's.

If it's a recent G2 then the firmware may be the updated one straight out of the factory.

Panasonic have a habit of blocking 3rd party batteries when they issue firmware updates, the way round it of course is not to update your firmware, but then you risk missing out on feature updates or fixes.

Yes you need to check the firmware you are running and check the supplier will refund you if it doesn't work with it.

Panasonic are terrible for blocking third party batteries with firmware updates.
