Saw them both - station seemed much brighter, but then I guess it's bigger?

Pretty cool though :)

Cheers for that. Phoned my sis near Perth but no reply for the follow-up so they must've still been outside.

There's another pass at 10:30 tonight

Redpaul I cant see that mate got a better link to the actual passes

I only use the Nasa as they track them so they know where and when, and we can see them tomoz as well

I saw it! It started off as a dim looking dot to the west, then as it went overhead it became a fast moving bright star before it faded away as it moved towards the east! And I know it wasn't a jet plane.
I couldn't set my camera up in time for it, especially since I heard about it in Facebook a minute prior to the event!

Sorry Dave, should've added to find the times for the passes you need to register. The passes will be different times depending on where in the country you are so it gives an exact time and heading based on your home towns longitude/latitude.

Nice spot guys. The ISS has got much brighter since they bolted on another set of solar panels. It's almost as bright as Venus now. It's 300 miles up, travelling at 17500 mph, you will normally get the oppo for 2 passes an evening whilst it's about. Our passes started a couple of days ago and we'll probably get another couple of weeks worth. I am, when the skies are clear, going to try using one of my telescopes to capture a close up view.. wish me luck cos I am seriously going to need it.... that's one helluva pan... :D

ISS Sat Sep 12/08:13 PM 5 57 10 above WSW 14 above E
ISS Sat Sep 12/09:48 PM 1 25 10 above W 25 above W

so the ISS is visible twice a night, must be going fast

/answered in above post :)

;)... Actually that's visible passes when it's lit by sunlight... there'll be others... about 100 minutes apart ish...

One of the sites linked earlier in this thread (or the other one) has the current speed - it was around 4.6 miles per second last night - about 16,500mph:eek:
