Hello, I am Alan form North East Debyshire.
This is my first thread so I hope someone can help me please. I would love to go to SA to photograph animals at waterholes in low morning and evening light, however the safaris on offer are out of my price bracket. Twice I have been to Kenya, which is great but you are in a vehicle driven to where the animals are at the time, which is usually not when photographically they are at their best. Apparently one can drive ones own vehicle in the game reserves in SA. Being 63 years old and suffering with back problems, I have to have a large degree of comfort so backpacking is out. Does anyone know of any reasonably priced hotels or guest houses near any game reserves where I could also hire a decent vehicle from? Idealy 4 or 5 days here then a week on a beach to recover. Thanks, Alan

Hello Alan Welcome to TP. Can't help with you but someone might pop along soon that can

Not a clue on the SA bit but welcome to TP!!!

Welcome, been to Kenya had a great time, Not sure if your allowed to run around the reserves alone, feeding the animals is not allowed.

Hi  and :welcome: to TP.

Hi, Yes I have been to Kenya twice but it is the self drive in the game reserves in SA that appeal. I have better photos from going out on my own than from the Kenyan safari jeep. Seems that SA safaris are very expensive hence my posting.

Thanks, Alan.
