Hi

I am sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find the answer. I have been reading various threads on TP and have a few questions re using OCF.

I have a D90 and a SB800 and I can fire the flash off the camera using the on board flash, looking at various threads people talk about triggers, so the questions are:

1. Do I need triggers if I am going to be using the SB800 as a slave?
2. Can I add another SB800 to the above without a trigger?

Thank you

There are limitations to the CLS system, if you're using it indoors in room lighting then it'll work fine, if you need it to work over longer distances / outdoors in bright light etc. then triggers are more reliable.

And once you've decided on triggers, you have the choice of TTL or manual triggers, for static flash work Manual is the way to go.

Phil,

Thank you. I should have said mainly indoors but will keep an eye out for the triggers as they are only £20-£25. Will try out using one flash in a softbox first.

Kev I would take a look at the YN622N, I have them and it works OK, my only issue is the shoe slips on the camera.
Worth a look as they are about £50 for a pair. Will also control the flash FEC+/- remotely.

Thanks, have today ordered the cheap amazon flash stand as the lencarta ones are out of stock till the end of the month and am getting desperate to have a play with the soft box. Will have a play with CLS as I will just be using the flash indoor and see how I get on.
