Coming back from the shop today just as i was coming though my village there is like a building that has a pretty big step around it and the step sticks out in the road. So i've gone to go around it and man (mid 60's i would say) decided to cut the corner and not leave me any room to get by, i kerbed my wheels and am not a very happy man at the moment. I want to get a tractor and then see if he does it to me, this is really annoying because if there was a cooper there he wouldn't he nicked him he would have nicked me for going up on to the footpath. He was in a pretty big car, i think they should be limited to a 900cc (like mine) and be told to deal with it. they just have not got a clue.

Sorry i am so angry now.

Do you think i am right in moaning about this?

Right, i'm off out with the camera now :D

meh, it's only a car. No one was hurt.

Car i have spent loads of money on

Wheels i have spent loads of money on.

.....please don't tell me you wouldn't be annoyed?

Thats a bit of a b****r I wouldn't be too impressed either
but as they used to shout on buses "mind the step" :D
Sorry not helping am I?

If there was a cooper there all he could have done is made a nice barrel for you

I can understand why you are annoyed, but as matty said it is only a car, and no one was hurt. I can understand that having spent the money on the rims it is annoying but it is a risk of every day driving.

tbh we don't know enough about the junction or the timing to be able to offer an opinion.

If you were sure that you were in the right and you couldnt stop without driving into the kerb then you could always have chosen to drive into him. (make sure you blast the horn)

Leap out and photo the scene showing that his car just came across into you.

I had a similar incident recently where an "elderly gentleman" stepped into the road in front of me without looking if anything was coming. Luckily I was looking, but that didn't stop me from knackering an alloy on the curb as I steered around him.

Should I have steered around him to avoid running him down? Of course I should.

Am I annoyed that I've now got, through no fault of my own, a completely screwed alloy wheel? You're damn right I am.

You do the right thing at the time, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't be annoyed that someone elses carelessnes has caused damage to something which you like to keep in top condition.

Nope, your really not chris  :D

I wish i had got a photograph of his numberplate now :bang:

See the thing is around here, you can't say anything because they will just call the police. With the "i'm better than you and you shouldn't be talking to me in that manner" attitude.

I'll get a photo of the road tomorrow :D

if you'd have anticipated the corner, you'd have slowed and waited until you were sure it was Ok to proceed.

If the obstruction was in your lane forcing you steer around it, only you can accept responsibility for hitting it regardless of another vehicle breaking it's lane ......I assume the road was divided into 2 lanes and that the man who cut the corner was indeed in another vehicle.

Knowing when to give way counts for a lot on the road, and you never stop learning.

I wasn't going fast, don't drive fast. i drive past there everyday and know not to go fast

Yeah the road is devided in to two lanes but that is one lane each, if i didn't hit the kerb i would have hit him and i can't be arsed with that.

Oh you was a kid once :D

if you'd have slowed down, checked the road ahead for a clear route around the obstruction you'd not have hit anything. Speed doesn't need to be involved......it's only politicians who'll tell you speed kills......the far biggest cause is carelessness

Sure i could have been going slower than 20mph but why should i? i kept in my lane she never kept in hers. Who would be to blame if we made conntact??

I'll get a picture tomorrow of where i was coming from and where she was coming from. The road is a nightmare anyways.

I have not seen one crash there though, better not go that way anymore.....

I am going to strap my cinny cam to my passager headrest and set it to record and then upload the video of what it is like driving around here.

because you wouldn't be moaning about a scuffed rim now

I thought this was a 60 something bloke

That's even more reason to use caution

try driving round some of the country's cities, village driving is a doddle after that

Get a Grip, please, it ain`t that important..........

I've got quite an expensive car as it goes... it's got 3 dents in (none of which were caused by me), the alloys are one step of being knackered and it's filthy, it's still only a car, a tool for me to get from a to b

Yeah but yours is a 4x4 and it meant to be like that

I would be fuming tbh. hate when people think they own the road :bat:

i own the road

but only when i am on it :suspect:

Ahhh, Boy racer attitude, " But officer it is not my fault they should have seen me coming with my silly blue lights under my car and on my windscreen washer jets, and if they had not seen me they should have heard my stupid exhaust or my stereo which has 10 zillon watts, and to answer your question of why I didn't pull over it was because I could not hear your siren because of my stereo and stupid exhaust and my windows are so heavily tinted I could not see you either." ;)

On a serious note, you will learn that you are taught to drive to pass your driving test, then once you have passed your test you will learn to drive,That is what my driving instructor told me on the way back from passing my test. All ways read the road well infront of where you actually are as well as what happening just infront of you bumper.

Just out of interest T-G, are your insurance company aware of your alloy wheels and big exhaust?

HAHA no

I am not a boy racer, i would hate to be branded as one of them. I wanted some nice sound to my car and that is what i have got. I am much more about looks of the car than the speed. I have not got a loud sound system, don't need it all i listen to is the radio. And shuuushhh i have not got tinted windows

Yes they are, the pipe doesn't make any proformence differences though. and it isn't what i would call big and the wheels was on it when i got it

Yes you do, Corsas have them as standard

Ahh, one of those exhausts....you hear the car coming and you think "that's fairly moving" and 5 minutes later a 1-litre Corsa crawls into view sounding like it has a hole in the exhaust 5 inches from the manifold

Oh right, didn't know that. in that case i think the back ones are darker than the front ones

I always found it easier to just take the whole exhaust off. Cheaper too ;)

Yeah but they don't look as good, i've tried it :D

Thats a matter of personal opinion ;) :D

matty i think you need to come to a meet and we'd see who can pull a girl me in my car or you in your car............................hmm..... :D

Oh, by the way

What car you got? haha

Where do you park that bus at night? :D:D:D:D:D

Steam the label off a large family size baked bean can then stick that on the end of the exhaust... that'll look just as daft as any other aftermarket exhaust, save you a packet AND provide a tasty, nutritious meal at the same time. Win-Win-Win!
