No price announced with the email.

No UK pricing but US pricing is $5100 so assume £4.5-£5k?

Can you re-post this in ten years when they are 300 quid.

Ouch! That’s another one off my list too.

I’ll just hang on to my pennies and keep waiting for an xpro4

If they can get the asking price then what can you say? Sony isn't a charity, they're in it to make money as are Fuji, Canon and all the rest.

I'm not interested because of the price, the mp count and file size, I'm just a happy snapper. As always good luck to those willing to spend this sort of money on a camera and lens combination and who love big files, it'll be a lovely thing but an A7cII would be more my thing as a more compact camera than a SLR style camera but of course you can't have that lovely 35mm f2 unless it's on a RX1.

PS.
Worth remembering that you get a very nice lens on the RX1. A very nice lens costs what these days? I think you have to factor that in to the cost of this new RX1. Look how much a digital Leica costs and you don't even get a lens.

£4200 inc vat according to DPR

I have an RX1R mk1 I've had a lot of use out of although I never thought Sony would release another model with the FE-mount cameras they offered especially after the A7C series. The pricing for the new RX1 seems unusually high against similar specced FE-mount cameras which I know are not as compact but still, no way I could justify it unfortunately.

Way more than i would pay but iam looking forward to seeing picture's out of it. Ive no doubt its going to be incredible

For the price you may as well just shop around for the red dot if you want to make a certain statement.

A7riv for the budget conscious buyer... And stick ANY lens you want on it

I used to own the MK2 a lovely camera but flawed by the software and the useless battery life but the images were beautiful ❤️

I think the price is steep but less than I thought it'd be. Almost a pleasant surprise :D and £1k cheaper than a Leica... Q... thingy, and the Sony is smaller.

I think you are in a very, very small minority Alan - Internet chatter seems overwhelmingly disappointed, not only at the high price but the lack of spec improvement.

I found out today that the lens hood is extra (like £200), the grip is extra (like £200?), or something silly like that?

What kind of special lens hood that cost £200? It's not a 800mm lens? I expect a £4000 camera to come with a lens hood....
Now you're just exaggerating...it's only £150 for the lens hood :D

I think this is it here and I cannot see anything that indicates why it's that price:

It's the same part number mentioned on the press release for the mk3

That looks like one of Fuji's which is like £50-70. Or you can get a knock off for under £10.

I've been put off spending £50 for a square hood for my X100VI, there is no way in hell I would ever pay £150 for a hood....

Barking mad! I really do wonder what the point of it is sometimes. I know these things ain't cheap. But as cameras become ever more niche, and ever more expensive it just takes photography further and further away from ordinary people. And, I can't help thinking that's a pity.

If one were going to get the hood or the grip....you might as well just get the A7CR and then put on a 35/2.0 and call it a day with another £1000 in your pocket? Or just use the money left to get a bigger coat with a bigger pocket.

oh, btw, there is NO IBIS in this £4,000 camera.......
