....I read that too but I also read/saw something later which contradicted it. I wish I could remember the detail.

looking forward to seeing some more pics in the thread with all these new owners!!

....Will do. I have taken quite a few and they need sorting out.

I have had issues for the last few days with my Apple Trackpad not working properly on their latest OS and hence making it extremely difficult to action anything. It's a widely reported issue but until Apple provides a fix I have solved it by buying a cheap wireless mouse this afternoon which doesn't rely on Bluetooth.

You haven't got a USB 3.0 hub by any chance as well? They can cause bother with wireless devices.

....Thanks, Suz. I have one USB hub but have now sorted out the problem by putting my apple Trackpad in a draw and buying a cheap wireless mouse which doesn't rely on Bluetooth.

Something small and black has arrived on my desk :-D

Just need to charge her up and give her a spin.

Great stuff!!

Look forward to some images.

As an aside, the video quality surprised me - i've never shot video before but was impressed!

Yep I was pretty amazed at the video quality from it as well...check this video out from it.not by me lol

I've gotten the mark 1. Could t justify the extra for the mk2 just yet.

Couple of shots I took in the house today with it, nothing special just the usual "test shots".

Still finding my way around it, a few things Im not keen on, like the faff of changing the focus point, Ive had to put it on the fn button and then use the arrow pad, Id have preferred an easier way. The zoom is a bit slow, but not too bad, and I think I might get a grip for it as its a bit slippery.

I only use center point anyway so no issue for me..it does take a while to configure it how you want it but once done its a joy to use..

Nice shot..that is the beauty of the sony it can literally go everywhere with you.

As one who is thinking of ditching his full frame gear due to a total loss of enthusiasm this thread has been an eye opener, and Sir SR, your shot shows just the sort of thing I have been missing - ordinary moments seen then captured. Thanks !

That's very kind of you to say! We'd met up with a few friends for lunch - a friend had a 5dIII there too, but I didn't want to take the d800 bag (I get bogged down with "ooh, 25-75 f2.8 or 50/85 f1.4. Flash? 70-200 f2.8, big bag/small bag?). It was nice to just have it in the pocket and be able to get decent raw files from it. I see it as my second camera as I can't see I'd replacing the d800. I'd used the Sony when I was out, but came back home to use the d800 - it's made me take more pics overall and put some enthusiasm back into it all!

Probably metering is my only complaint, bit unfair given price point and overall performance!

Lowepro napoli 30 is a bargain and fits lovely or the genuine sony jacket case

....I strongly recommend the Richard Franiec grip. It's metal not plastic. I'll post a pic when I have uploaded them later.

Zoom is very limited on the RX100 and very slow, but the camera makes up for it in other areas I think.

....The Richard Franiec grip I mentioned earlier. It's very sturdy and feels and looks like it was part of Sony's original design. From across the pond in the U S of A but Richard ships them quickly. Here's mine....

And his web site..... http://www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_rx100

Hope this helps :)

^ A grabbed snapshot of some of my butcher friends who always love having their photo taken.

RX100 II, ISO 160, f2, 1/30, flash - It deals with the odd mixtures of lighting very well I think.

^ RX100 II, ISO 3200, f4.5, 1/60 - Another reliable point-n-shoot in the bag on an overcast day.

^ RX100 II, ISO 160, f4, 1/160 - Extremely impressive in very low light conditions.

^ RX100 II, ISO 160, f4, 1/400 - Simply a very reliable camera delivering natural colour results.

Glad to see this thread is going strong again with regular posts, it did flag for a while but it seems now that the thread has picked up the pace again and more people are now aware of what a wee gem this camera and it's popularity is ever growing. Keep up the good work guys.

Thanks, Stuart :)

I had my Canon 70D + 70-200mm f4L IS around my neck and used my RX100 II as a if a standard ~50mm lens, which is why I spent my budget on the Canon zoom and 100mm Macro L lenses. It also results in the RX100 being a 'take-everywhere-all-the-time' camera - Better than an iPhone.

So I start off looking for a decently priced (pocketable zoom) compact with built in GPS and after several days of indecision end up ordering the most expensive compact there is, which happens to have no GPS. WEX were chucking in the Sony case but sold out while I was making my mind up. New toy arrives Thursday.

Oooh nice one mate...early xmas pressie eh!..I went out today looking for some table mats with the mrs and came home with a lovely new sony xperia z1! Didnt cost a penny though just signed for a new contract and phones 4 u payed my early termination fee and chucked loads of goodies at me for free also! Nice phone and bit more pocketable than my note 2 was and the camera is great fun! Its no rx100 but very good for a phone. The water proofing and dust sealing will be a benefit considering my trade and uncanny knack of dropping phones down the loo or in buckets of water lol

My first foray into Sony camera ownership has started with the arrival of my new RX100M2. I'm unlikley to get any opportunities to really use it until the weekend, but initial impressions are great. The quality is superb, the range of functions mind boggling and the menu system fairly easy to get to grips with (so far). I also got the free Sony case from WEX, but not sure if I'll use it, or get a soft puch and a 'grip'.
