Is anyone else interested in the newly announced Sony RX100 compact camera?

It seems to have a lot going for it on paper, 1" sensor, F1.8 at the wide end, 28-100 zoom, 1080p 60fps, very small.

If image quality turns out to be good, i think it could be a good bit of kit.
 
I've not read it yet but I just spotted this review.
 
it looks dear if you consider it as an S100 competitor.
If you compare it to other large sensor compact cameras it doesn't look as bad.
Hopefully prices will fall but initial demand seems to be very high so I don't see it happening for a few months.
 
If they can pull the technology off, which it looks like they may have done, then it looks an amazing camera for the size, and will push some larger cameras on performance. :eek:

I only got my Canon S95 last July, so it will be a few years yet before I may need to replace it, but for something of a very similar design (very similar ;)) and size, to get so much more (at a cost) is stunning.

It could affect the market for advanced compacts dramatically as other manufacturers scrabble to get something somewhere near the features and size.
