Beginner Sony NEX 5T - Next Step On The Lens Ladder

Afternoon All,

Ive had my Sony NEX 5t for about 10 months now and been using the kit 16-55mm Lens.
I feel like i'm starting to get a "novice" eye for a good picture.

I mostly shoot nature/landscapes but i'm doing more action sports (Biking/Climbing) this year.
I'm toying with upgrading to Sonys affordable zoom...55-210 f4,5-6,3 Lens but a few friends have said I may be better going with a wide angle or prime lens beforehand.

What would people recommend I think about/or purchase?

10-18 seems to fit the bill

Two extreme ends of the range really so completely different lenses. The 10-18 is an excellent wide angle and the 55-210 delivers good results for a consumer zoom so it depends on your own style of shooting and budget. Alternatively, the Samyang 12mm F2 is excellent for wide angle (without the flexibility of the 10-18).

Thanks guys. the Samyang 12mm does look nice. Have made a thread with a few photos I like.

Liking the 55-210mm alot lately as its nice and affordable.
