I've seen a couple of good deals for the Sony NEX 5 cameras the 14.2MP version and although its now been superceeded i dont want to spend the extra money as i've tried out the 14.2 version and it does everything that i want it too.

However when i went to the shop and asked the guys there they didnt have a clue about the different versions of the NEX 5 Camera so i thought i would try the internet but not having much luck there either.

Can someone please explain the differences between the NEX5 Cameras the A, AS and the 5K and the NEX 3 cameras and any other versions i might have forgotten as there is some difference in price.

A friend has the NEX5 and i really like it so would like similar but if i can save some money and get the same camera then that would be good also.

Thanks

The main differences between the 5 and 5N are that the latter has a better sensor (16mp), in-camera lens correction, and can take the add-on OLED VF.

The K relates to the kit lens supplied, IIRC. Not sure about A and AS, but they're either kit lens options or colours. There are only the two 5 bodies.

Sony 5n also has a great touchscreen to focus. Tap area you want in focus and it automatically adjusts.

Above will give you a good comparison.

Any questions bout the 5n i'll try and answer.

I got mine for £600 with 2 lenes and £50 cashback and 5 yr warranty, to give you idea of price. I shopped around a long time.

I think the only differences between the 'old' NEX-5 is the colour and whether it comes with the single kit lens (18-55mm) or kit + pancake (16mm)
