Hi

can anyone let me know where the best place for sony/sony fit lenses (af)

i'm looking to expand my collection and would prefer some used/ cheap ones as a starter

hoping you can help

:)

Ffordes, Harrison Cameras and Camarthen Cameras are where I tend to look. There are probably others :)

As my original reply was deleted (thank you so much to the ever patient and understanding mod who pulled the trigger on that one) why don't you suggest what you are looking for on this thread and if anyone on here has spare lenses which they might be able to sell to you at a reasonable price then they can list them in the classified section (or on other forums with less draconian rules) and then direct you towards those listings?

As imtimated previously there are loads of used Minolta lenses out there - Dyxum forums specialise in only A mount cameras and are good for info and help on Sony dslrs.

Hopefully this is of some use to you and lasts a little longer than my first post.

thanks :) ive manged to get some off evilbay as they were a tad expensive for a starter like me in the shops, hopefully i'll get so take some better pics

Your post was deleted as you were offering to sell outside of Classifieds and you know full well it was against the rules. What patience and understanding were you expecting?

Caroline does not have the necessary number of posts to access Classifieds yet in any case.

The voice of reason, tolerance and balance speaks again.

For the record as I recall I did not offer an individual item - I extended the courtesy to a new user of letting them PM me to find out if I might have lenses that they might be interested in which I could then have listed on the classified section.

I didn't notice until later that the user in question was still below the threshold for posting.

Having only bought and not sold though the forum I was actually unaware of how strictly you implemented these rules - having not offered individual items or mentioned any price I had thought the post would be ok.

Not that any of that matters as the post was wiped....hey ho let it go and feel the love eh folks

...........and BTW I chose not to identify the Mod in question by name....but maybe they felt a little guilty and chose to reply then eh?

You offered the opportunity for the OP to PM you regarding the possibility of purchasing from you. It's pretty obviously against the rules no matter how you word it.

I didn't feel guilty at all, I don't feel the need to hide and am perfectly prepared to back up my moderating decisions.

Kudos to you then sir.

..and just to clarify I am not disputing that it is against the rules I just wasn't sure how strictly they were applied.....and for that matter I hadn't read through them fully before I posted that.

Please be aware that I will not fall foul of that rule again.

I just hope you are prepared to back up your choice of sunglasses though

Try ebay.
I just sold my 16-80 ZA on Ebay, shame that TP not allow me to access their classified place.

dyxum.com classifieds, which you can read without being registered / logged in and is A-mount only. Also a wealth of information for people using A-mount cameras and lenses, as well as being the friendliest photography forum on the net. The traffic is fairly low, but some interesting stuff comes up - I bought my 70-200 SSM and Zeiss 135/1.8 there, amongst others.

Depends what you want. If you look on the TP classifieds, you'll see one of mine listed (Sigma AF 120-300mm APO DG OS HSM), though I wouldn't call it 'cheap' just yet

I also use the Sony system, so other places to look are Dyxum - the Sony/Minolta owners bible website, as they have their own classifieds thread and an external sales classifieds thread, and maybe on AVForums, else it's evilBay.

Ffordes and Mifsuds might be OK, but they sell a lot on commission and they have at least a 20% markup.

One great place is: http://uk.webuy.com/ or CEX as it's better known.

You can find some real deals on there if you look hard enough, though not all are available to buy online as many are in-store purchases only which is fine if there is a branch near you, though I don't know if they will do inter-branch transfers if an item is located in London and you live in Leeds if you get my drift.
