Sony, and especially Translucent Mirror

You can get a nikon adapter for alpha mount so you can use old nikon lenses. I only know as I went mad and bought one. Never used it. There's also one for Minolta MD manual lenses. Leica R to full frame sony: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adapter-Leica-R-lens-Sony-Alpha-DSLR-A900-A800-/330497330329

In the last few years the number of adapters and doodads has mushroomed for sony so I don't think it difficult as it used to be even 2 years ago.

This is true for most DSLRs, but I'm not a big fan of taking lenses to bits in order to fit other mounts. Many of the adapters have glass in as well which degrades IQ. This is where Canon excels for me, whether they did it intentionally or not!

Interesting rumour appearing that the A99 hasn't got the standard minolta hot shoe!

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/the-a99-rumors-roundup-from-the-tester/

A tester says there is a new hot shoe. I'm assuming this is a standard iso hot shoe. The tester person says camera comes with a doodad for using older accessories.

Still not sure what I'd do with 102 AF cross points. I barely make use of the 3 I have!

Now all I have to do is to work out how many organs I need to sell to buy one :D

It's an odd rumour - if it was the 'standard' hot shoe, then why doesn't the rumour say that?

Perhaps Sony are actually 'extending' the Minolta shoe design, perhaps adding extra pins for greater control options (they already changed the wireless flash protocol when they brought out the 58) - more ratio or group options perhaps?

I don't know. I can't see the point in changing the hot shoe design away from standard minolta to something other than iso standard!

I would agree, but this is Sony, who do like to do things their way...
