Sorry to burst your bubble, but these are just very expensive paperweights. You'd get better results from a toilet-paper tube and some cellophane

I think they are aimed at the Sony user coming straight from a ps3
;)

Can't see any mention of how fast (slow) these 2lb tin cans are :)

Hi mate,

Easy to understand why anyone would get excited with a zoom of that length, sounds mighty impressive...

It looks like it is F8 to F16 (F32 fully zoomed with the 2x tc), so obviously not the fastest if lens, by a long shot.

Managed to find a mini review of it too:

"It's a 650-1300mm F8-16, so with the teleconverter you'd end up having a 2600mm F32 lens. You can't except much for a lens like this, especially considering that it isn't even a prime. Unless you have an extremely sturdy tripod and plan on shooting in bright daylight only, it's a complete waste of money. The tiny aperture would also prevent you from using it for any type of action photography, like sports or birding. My advice: stay away from it!

I don't see why anyone would want to go beyond a focal length of about 1200mm, if not less, because the image quality just goes down the drain and the slightest movement of your tripod (i.e. that caused by wind) would blur your photos.

Since it looks like you're looking for a tele lens, I'd suggest getting a K, M or A 300 or 400mm lens from Pentax, or a bigma, and popping a TC on- the image quality would be better and the effective focal length would still be more than adequate. Another alternative, though in a slightly higher price range, would be the K 500mm F4.5. It provides great magnification and sharpness, but unfortunately suffers from a lot of CA/PF.

Here's a photo I took with it at 700mm (using the L 1.4x converter):

Hope it helps a little.

Gary.

The buyer reviews should also be a warning

"I seen this lens and thought Wow perfect for my A100....WRONG.....This is not a quality lens by any stretch of the imagination, Highly over priced for what it is. There is terrible distortion, the lenses in this thing are like coke bottles. ........ wow what a piece of junk. I thought maybe I had received a defective lens and sent the first one back, after receiving the replacement lens I found it to be worse then the first. I mean honestly who makes this thing...seems like it would have been better quality if they had taken an empty paper towel tube and stuffed a couple of magnifying glasses in each end.
Furthermore The adjustment on it is like that of a throttle on a motor scooter, I mean mean wow it is hard to adjust. well point is I am sending the second one back for a refund.

mmmm...my next lens is in sight:lol: Build quality is pants, dread to think what would happen if it got dropped. Reminds me of a toy telescope I had as a child.

Looking at the sellers feedback, they sell quite well. Decisions decisions  :woot:

 Good thing I talked my self out of it.

Opteka sell directly on Ebay and on some of their addys, they post sample images using the lens.

Absolutely shocking; at least they're honest and don't show pictures taken with a better lens instead
