I have to admit, I would be more likely to go with the Sony, if only to guarantee compatibility and I always find Sony products extremely reliable. In truth though, one is probably as good as the other. As long as when you plug it into the camera, press the button and the shutter fires, then you're probably OK with whichever you go for.

i did see some cheaper ones from china etc,but opted for the sony one..about £30-£35 from warehouse express...

trouble with me is i'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for...

Think i paid around £10 for a third party one from Germany off t'ebay and it has never given me a problem.

Very quick delivery, tried it out the other night and it seems to work perfectly.
And the pidgeon English used in the instruction manual is worth the £6.00 alone

I just bought an el-cheapo cable release from ebay the other year for the A100, works fine and fits well on the A700 too.
