I've finally got the chance to step into the world of DSLR photography and on some research I thought I would go for the Sony Alpha A330. It is within my budget, has had it's fair share of good and bad reviews and it appears to be a good camera for an entry level. Now I have been reading and checking out the Canon 450d. It is a bit more expensive than I was hoping too spend but what I want to know is, is it worth spending that bit extra on?
The more I think about it it does seem a bit of a no brainer, especially with the availability of Canon lenses and the prices compared to Sony.

Any advice or info greatly appreciated,

Cheers
Fergie.

i had the a300 and it was a great camera

for me i missed the nikon feel from my d40 days and so hopped back to nikon

however the sony has everything going for it:
image stabilisation
can use a host of lenses i.e. minolta
live view is one of the best on the market
tilt screen i had on mine

one thing my d90 top trumps the a300 is the ISO capabilities

Hopefully by Sunday I'll know better whenever I go and have a fiddle about with said cameras. I'm still drawn to the Sony A330 but the practical side of me is telling me to go for the Canon 450d :bang:

hi fergie,

I have the sony a330 and am more than happy with it,I to was torn between the sony and canon but I made my mind up for the sony by way of the sony has a bigger and tiltable screen and also has an hdmi out.
I am glad I chose the sony.hth

Thanks Sony!

Another vote for the Sony. This is doing my bap in!

No, but then again I'm a Sony user so I'm biased!!:D

Could you stretch to £492 ish and get the Sony A380 with kit lens? Currently with £70 cashback so it will end up costing you roughly £420!!

On paper there isn't a great deal between the A330 and the 450D, I'd go for the one that feels better in your hands:thumbs:

The Sony A380 might just be the camera. I was seriously considering getting the 450D but now the A380 has me thinking again. I'm for Jessops tomorrow to have a fiddle about with all the mentioned models. I think this is the only way I'll be able to make my mind up.

Thanks for the input Slimbert
