Im all newish to this sort of thing and wanting to know if you guys could help me.

Could you tell me what lenses fit on the Sony Alpha 200? :)

Thanks! :)

The Konica/minolta af fit on the Alpha range

Thank you very much, will see if I can find a bargain price now. The Sony lenses are quite pricey arent they :(

Sony lenses are on a par with Nikon and Canon lenses as far as price is concerned which is why many go for the 3rd party lenses. I have 4 Sigmas and a Tamron as well as Sony lenses.

Not sure what lens you have ,also depending what you shoot, but 2 highly recommended lens are Minolta 50mm F1.8 (nifty fifty)and Minolta 70-210 (beercan). But Minolta are hard to get cheap these days as people realise they fit Sony Alpha, and has pushed the prices up

I think I shall be going for the third party lenses. Obviously I have the lens that came with the camera.

Would SIGMA ZOOM LENS 1:4-5.6 f=60~200mm fit mine and the Minolta MD Fit 80-200MM 3.8 ZOOM MACRO Lens?

I dont want to go buying a lens and it to arrive and not fit. :(

Sorry Im asking lots of questions hopefully I will pick it all up

I can't see the Sigma in the Dyxum DB ( although that is not 100% of the compatible lenses ). If I lens has MD in the name, it is an older manual focus lens and would only fit with an adaptor, but will still only MF.

I good budget lens with a bit more reach than the kit lens is the Tamron 55-200, new around £100.

nic02..if you state what you intend using the lens for,we may be able to point you in the right direction....also a budget would help

It's a bit of everything sweet, from macro shots, to landscape, motor sports, portrait photos etc

Just brought a a200 myself and have the same dilema i want a lens for motorsport was thinking of a 70-300 maybe

the sigma 70-300 APO DG macro lens will cover motorsports, portrait shots, macro(although not true macro..more close up)..and landscape to a certain extent, although you're going to be limited on the wide side..but your kit lens has that area covered...

this one here...

The Minolta nifty fifty is f1.7 (just in case the OP is searching fleabay and wondering why they aren't getting any matches).

Thank you again to all of you.

I have had a look on ebay and found a Minolta MD Fit 80-200MM 4.5 ZOOM MACRO. Do the MD range fit the Alpha or do I need to buy something else to make it fit??

My budget is around £30 for now, so Im guessing I would be better getting the older lens for now until I have funds.

I think I may have to keep saving to fund for the 70-300 if it doesnt.

Sorry for all the questions. :(

MD are manual focus lenses & won't fit on an Alpha without an adapter.

I've been pricing up lenses for my a200 as I'm really interested in macro work and close ups. In the end I opted for a set of extension tubes and also some close up lens that you can screw onto the front of the existing lens for a fraction of the price until I can afford something more appropriate in the future, and in the meantime give me something to practice with
