I have just started using my Sony A77 and let me just say wow i was previously using a Sony A700 and that was good but this A77 is in a whole new league. Such awesome pictures and the video function is handy too.

Any thoughts or ideas on what others think or have found with this camera?????

I picked one up 2 weeks ago.. and it has exceeded my expectations massively.. the 'hit rate' and fun factor with this camera is indeed impressive!

I went KM7D -> EOS40D -> D5100 and was umming and ahhing over the A77 or D7000, but went with the A77 as it just instantly feels 'fun' as soon as you pick it up, so despite knowing the D7000 would have been a superb choice, I just got the A77 on a whim and haven't looked back!

I have just purchased the A65 which shares many of the same features. The A65 is a great camera for the money so can only imagine how great the A77 is :)

Gotta say I'm VERY pleased with my a77.

There are some annoying features like it does not allow some of the clever functions to operate in RAW mode and it is picky about AF ing with my Minolta 200 with TC attached but overall the a77 is a great package.

For example, I never thought I would prefer EVF over OVF but it is implemented so well in the a77 that I definitely do.

Kudos to Sony's engineers for doing a great job on this body.

I felt the same about eh EVF i actually went to a camera shop just to try the A65 because i was worried about not liking it but now i'm wondering what i did before lol
Anybody want to buy a A700

what is the A77 performance in low light / high ISO like compated to the A700. When I changed from A200 to A700 I was amazed by how much better the IQ of shots were at 1600 ISO.

When I was first looking to upgrade from the 200 I went into my local and had a look at the A55 and when I asked about ISO range the guy told me its not recomended to go higher than 800 on the A55. I assume this is not the case on the A77 and it can produce usaeble pictures up to at least 3200 ?

Would love to see some examples of quality of A77 at 3200 v A700 for comparison if anyone has both in their hands currently ?

Dont you just loves camera sales guys?

According to DxOMark, both the a55 and a77 are better at high-ISO noise control than the a700. If you like the a700 at 1600, you won't be disappointed with either camera.

I have both the A700 and A77 and i can tell you now that the A77 far exceeds the A700 on both image quality and low noise at high ISO. I will post some comparisons this week after i have been out in the night.
But i'm well chuffed with this camera going beyond what i thought it would

I bloody Love mine. Made the jump from a Sony A450 to the A77. Clearly its a massive price difference so i did expect alot. Having said that I havent been disapointed. I was a little worried when I connected it to my studio lights as the screen was black. until I found the right fucntion in the menu ..... phew :)

I've been using mine for a couple of weeks now and the only thing I can see that lets it down is the battery life.

we need pictures as thinking of getting om or a 7d as backup because of lenses I have

I have moved from a Sony A55 to A77 and think it is the best thing i've done since starting this hobby. The pictures that come out of the A77 are awsome!

I had a 3 hour play with an a77 today at the Sony World Photography Awards at Somerset House. Was very impressed with it, and with the 16-50/2.8 it came with. Want. Want badly.

Also saw the 500/f4. Probably the only time I'll ever see it! :(

Awesome camera, i love mine and wouldn't change it for the world.
