Hi,

Anybody know of anywhere that has any Brand New Sony A700 bodies or kits left in stock?

Tried everywhere :gag:
 
Yeah already checked that website.

Apparantly sony are releasing the a7** upgrade in feb according to castle cameras.

I think I got their last A700, yeah looking like there may be something announced at CES in Vegas in January, I'm hoping for a D300s level camera, although glad I got my A700 just now as I expect its replacement to be £1200+ when its launched.
 
Jessops on Whiteladies road, Bristol had an A700_18-70 kit for £499 a couple of weeks ago. John Lewis at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol had an A700 + 16-105 for £799 at the same time. Haven't been back to either since to check if they are still available.

Jessops had it but it was a display model and couldnt ship it to me. Called John Lewis and they have it in stock , the Sony A700 +16-105mm lens for a grand sum of ...........£599 delivered!!!!!!

Just paid for it and it will be with me tuesday approximately she said.

Its a cracking price for the body and that lens is amazing as well, £599 is what I paid for my A700 + 16-105! I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Hi,

No i had to just mention the name (a700).

The girl did say it was the last one in the whole of john lewis.

if you do ring and they say they have one in the bristol branch , it will just be cause the stock hasnt updated yet as that is my one.

No just double checked with JL and they're all out of stock your so very lucky. I have the 16-80mm on order but I'd have easily cancelled it for the right deal.

I went on a photography holiday and the pro photographer on there had a 24-70mm f2.8 for his Nikon and rated it very highly so it can't be too shabby.

If you decide to sell your 16-105mm at the right price, I may cancel the 16-80mm as even though its meant to be the better lens its not gonna be worth the extra over a bargain!

The 16-105mm is light years ahead of the 18-70mm in both build and IQ.

It's got an excellent range and for a kit lens is absolutely amazing.

I got my a700 with the 16-105mm from Currys just before Xmas for £399, how pleased was I?:bonk:

Very good price , im chuffed at £599 and truth be known id have paid £799!

Yep, bloody great price. I wouldn't have got one but at that price I couldn't say no. It was ex display but it was minty mint.

They were doing the body for £275 but they didn't have any left. First time I've ever managed to bag a great bargain I've seen on the net.:D
 
I know a John Lewis that have 2 at £799.....

They keep saying I can have 10% off the last one, they haven't reduced them in the sale either.

Did you phone your local customer services or the one shown on the website? I will see if I can get one....

I managed to pick one up from Peter Jones in London, who are part of John Lewis and are posting it me for £599. Can't grumble at that.

At the time two stores were showing stock, dont know if I got the last in Peter Jones but you can try again.

I purchased another one from a local John Lewis today with a view of using the body as a spare body and selling the lens to pay some towards it

I enquired about these and they were both sold on Saturday at £599 :'(
 
I have actually got one waiting for me to collect for a Sony Centre at £499, sadly it comes with the 18-70 kit lens which I have already got and stopped using long time ago. The only barrier between me and My new A700 is snow.
 
I've been absolutely sha*ted by Jessops and a stock error with this - does anyone know where one is available? JL totally out of stock and even the local Sony centre can't order on in? Thanks, pointers appreciated.
 
Just got mine an hour ago. It's with the kit lens DT 18-70mm which is my second one now.

that's because it's been out of production for months.
these cheap prices are clearance stocks - presumably to make room for the replacement (which is expected to be much dearer - the A700 when introduced was~£1000 body only).

I know - you can understand why i was so peeved at the Jessops 'stock error' - just wondered if anyone knows of any other retailer that has stock lurking about?

Strange I've just received a call frm a store and they seem to have the last display model! I've paid so I have my fingers crossed it turns-up all present and complete. Thanks for the forum pointers - I've been after one of these for nearly a year, but wasn't about for the sales.
