After weeks of deciding which camera to buy I've finally decided on a Sony a6000 however not sure whether to get the body only and purchase a lens seperately or go with the 16-50 kit lens

I'll mostly be photographing landscapes, indoor and outdoor shots of my children and indoor portraits

Many thanks

all depends on your budget really, the kit lens will be a cheap solution and will work fine for most of what you want.

You'd prob want a separate lens for portraits, but again it all really depends on how much you want to spend and what performance characteristics you will need

I'd quite like an A6000 myself but that's very much a want and not a need so I'll have to do without for now :)

I've had my a6000 for a few weeks and looking for a sel18200 already.
The kit lens was good so I could use the camera straight away, but want more zoom.
I think buying just the body was only £50 cheaper? So I just went for the 1650 with it.

I had the nex 6. Not the same but the lenses were. I would go for the sigma primes and the sony 50 1.8. Which is probably the best lens for the NEX/a series. The 18-200 is ok but nothing special. For this range I went for an old canon fd135. With an adaptor, manual focus only but the colour and contrast were fantastic.
