Sony a5000

Hello,
I currently use a Sony s5000 with the kit lens. Although it takes good pictures I feel the need to do something about it.

I see two options:
Purchase a new camers
Or:
Get a better lens.

Would I notice the difference with a better quality lens?

I am interested in taking portraits mainly.

Any suggestions on lens - at a sensible price please!

There is also a new sigma 56mm f1.4 coming out and the sigma 30mm f1.4 is pretty nice too for more full body portraits.

Depends on your shooting style really.
