hi butterfly09....okay,whilst i've no personal experience of the A200,i've had it's big brother, the A350..and that was a great camera.the only real difference was the resolution, with the A200 having 10.2MP,and the A350 having 14.2MP and the liveview/tilting screen.the A200 has been replaced by the A230,which is why the A200 is selling as cheap as it is.all sony DSLR's have an inbuilt image stabilisation, which is a bonus meaning that any lens you put on your camera is image stabilised.the sony did exceptionally well against other cameras in it's class.i would however, advise you go to a camera shop like jessops, and handle other cameras to see which you prefer for handling, user interface etc.....

hope this helps..

I am a new dslr user and have been bought the A200 for my birthday. Chose it as always had Sony Cybershots so it was like the next step but also great price as no longer available been replaced as stan the man so rightly says......
I LOVE my camera but then I think I would have loved whichever one I got!!!
As all the experience guys say, its not the brand or whats popular etc, its how it feels in your hand........

just read your previous threads...
took this with my a200 not long after i bought it and still on "auto"...
clearly not a dog, but action.....

A colleague at work has just bought one and I was quite impressed with the pictures from the kit lenses, however after holding it and using it i found the plastic body too small for my hands, I have a 30D which feels much more sturdy and has a better feel, but that aside for the money its a great entry level DSLR.

I phoned about 10 online stores last week looking for an A200 and though they said in stock, I couldn't find one in stock anywhere. I ended up getting a great deal on an almost new one in the classifieds part of a forum.

It's my first dSLR and I only received it last night. First impressions, apart from 'wow, I have a lot to learn', is that the camera feels nice to hold and that the camera is fairly easy to work your way round. Using the viewfinder was a novelty after so many years of compact cameras but felt 'right'.

I'm looking forward to having a proper play, rather than being confined to taking pics of random things in my lounge. I was brave enough to take it off 'auto' and play around with ISO settings :D

As my first foray into the world of DSLR cameras My gut feeling is that the A200 is the right camera for me. Now to save up £180 for that 70-300 lens!

I got my first Dslr in June, the A200, and i absolutely love it, it's got me right into photography, (i don';t go anytwhere without my camera now). It's an easy camera to use, with not too many gizmo's to confuse you as a beginner.
I'm looking to upgrade next year though, to maybe a second-hand a700 or an a550, as my experience progresses.

Ive got an A200 (had it about 4 months) with the 18-70mm kit lens.

Its my first DSLR and im very impressed with it, taken like 3000+ pictures i think, its a perfect entry level camera :D

I am looking at getting a prime lens or 300mm zoom next.

I will probably just get the Sony lenses as I am quite OCD when it comes to matching things even if other brands are better

I bought one this year took it to waddington air show
and was very pleased with the results.
iam a novice but still very happy with the a200
