Just be looking in Argos new Cat online and noticed they got a Sony A200 listed for £449 with Kit Lens.

Now i know it not the cheapest place to buy Camera from, but even £449 for a newly released DSLR & better specs than the 400D is pretty good going, proberly be as low as £399 in other places thou.

Now this brings me to Canon & the 450D

With it proberly being released in the next few weeks proberly early Feb, would it be silly of Canon to price it at around the same price as the 400D was when it was launched, as no doubt new users to DSLR will proberly jump for the A200 over the 450D if it ends up being over £100 more & not offering that much more over the A200.

Reason being most only ever stick with the Kit Lens and never take it off the body, basically using it as a exspensive P&S:thumbsdown:

So basically what im saying is will we see the 450D for under £500 with the Kit Lens.

Are you planning to go from a 400D to a 450D? I don't reccomend that, get a 40D instead. Bigger difference between th 400D and 40D than the 400D and 450D (yeah, I know it's not been announced but i'm willing to put money on the fact that the difference will be bigger).

As for the 450D, online you would be able to get it for under £500. The 400D is going on eBay for like £370 new with a kit lens.

I just sold my 400D with grip, bag and extra battery for £300.

Well i plan on buying a 40D & grip next week "maybe"

I sold just my 400D & kit lens on ebay but decided to keep hold of the grip & a couple of batteries just in case the 450D is decently spec'ed when they hopefully announce it next Thursday.

If it isn't offering that much more over the 400D ie 20D to 30D kinda upgrade then the grip will be sold off and it's a 40D for me.

But let say the 450D is then what money i save i will put towards 24-105mm F4L next month

The thing with the 450D is they can't improve it too much over the 400D becuase then it would be too similar to the 40D, and they need to keep each range of camera far enough apart to warrent you actually spending more on a camera higher up the Canon tree o' cameras (lol).

I can't reccomend a 40D enough, it's SUCH a good camera, huge improvement over the 400D.

Plus you get away from the 'amatur-esq' status that the 400D gets you (I know it's the photographer behind the camera that counts, but I don't like it when random people in clubs come up to you who definatly have no idea when it comes to photography and say 'OMG!! I have that camera!!').

you can get the a200 from sony for £369 body only

I'm moving away from Sony (and my A100) at the moment. The camera has only been good to me so far, and I really love it. But sadly, there just isn't the market in the Sony at the moment for the lens prices and accessories to be of a price I can justify buying.

I know, moving to Canon, that my stuff will have an amount of resell value, and it will be (on the whole) cheaper to buy that the Sony stuff. Case in point, a 50mm prime for the Canon sets me back about £70, while a similar Sony brand SAF 50mm is over £270.

That, and 3rd party manufacturers often not even including the Sony in their line-up and it was enough for me to switch. I simply got fed up of seeing "Canon/Nikon Only".
