Hi

I'm very new to the world of dslr - so new in fact that I haven't ordered my camera yet. Having been looking around the market I've settled on the Sony a200 which seems like a good entry level model. I will want to set up a home studio to take portraits of my family, so I've also been looking at lighting kits and reading up for hours on this site.

However, I've just read a review of the camera which says :

'One small downside of the Alpha system is that the hotshoe is uniquely different from other D-SLRs, which makes it difficult to use standard accessories such as flash triggers. The problem is heightened by the fact the camera doesn’t have a PC-sync terminal – less than ideal if you’re hoping to work with studio flash.'

Does this mean that I can't trigger studio lights with this camera ? Seeing as that is a big part of what I want to do, it's important that I understand the implications of this.

I'd appreciate any help or advice on this.

Thanks

It just means you need a Sony/Minolta-fit trigger, or failing that an adapter for your hotshoe to convert it to a regular ISO fitment one

Oh and :welcome: to TP too :)

Some have over voltage circuits built in some don't, if you buy one with protection, you don't have to worry about what flash you use.
