Sonriendo's 52 of 2011 - Week 10 - Trio

Wow Sarah, that's a stunning image. It is so simple yet totally captivating. This must be one of my favourites from the 52 week challenge.
It makes me think of Japanese watercolours. The background processing is perfect. You must get this printed.

To get picky, I'd say the lighting on the flowers look slightly flat. Perhaps tweak the contrast?

Lovely

Hi Sarah, I always understood the saying was that you cannot polish a turd. So you have done remarkably well in doing so

Thank you - very kind

Hi Sarah, I really like your image for this week, the background looks great, it certainly makes the flowers stand out. Great job,

I have also just seen your week 6, lovely photo.

I'm very lucky to have this tree in my garden. It's such a shame the floering season is so short :(

Lovely

The lighting flattened when I added the texture I think. I might have another play with it when I get time.

Your flowers are just delightful, and your skill at capturing them

I suppose I shouldn't be grumpy cos you live with such lovely light...but...:(

Thank you Tina and as for the light :D I love it

So, was it the flapping wings of one small butterfly, that caused the global warming we are now suffering...

Not overimpressed with this weeks effort  Should've used a dark grey, instead of black for the butterflies, or reduced the opacity - and I know that burnt bit has smoke rising from it - I should be ashamed

Hiya Sarah,

WOW! WOW! WOW!

What more can I say ....

I had the same idea, and had my picture ready to post, then changed it.

I absolutely love this image, and have to say I think it is your BEST!!

Only thing is .... even though I don't have experience of selective colouring, but I think a slight hue of colour in the background would just give it a bit of punch (if you know what I mean?) Perhaps something along the lines of pale blue or orange????..... or a bit of a 'rainbow' effect. Now I am probably really testing the boundries

Otherwise I think it is fab, and wouldn't mind having a bit of a go re processing this image. Do you have it in RAW or JPEG colour to PM me? just for a play?

Cheers

Dawn x

I always like finding a 52 I've not been to before, or in a long time, especially when they have so many great shots like yours. I love your Chaos - I was also thinking of the chaos theory, but hadn't worked out how to do it.

Your open has great DOF, but yes, the door handle needed to be complete!

Your style shot has some good reflections. I'd rather it was in colour though, but that's only because I've not seen a blue sky in a while!

The winner so far though is 'clutter'; nice colours good DOF and all round pleasing to the eye.

Neil thank you very much for your nice comments - with chaos coming so close to clutter, it's not so easy - I had to google it

There are so many of us doing the 52, it's very difficult to keep up and comment on them all, so I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Thanks

As Dawn would prob guess I dont warm to your image... but it's a personal thing with me as it's not something i'd do! I tend to be a picture taker rather than an image maker... But as an advertisement type image its great. I'd like it better if the butterflys where all different giving the impression of movement more... then maybe in different colours in a random pattern!

But Great Work... I'd say its one of your best too!

Thank you Mark - it's not one of my favourites as it was quite a lazy cop out tbh. There are those who like to play with ps and those who don't. I fall into both camps

Hi Sarah, really good idea for the theme "chaos". The Butterfly Effect idea is very appealing. It almost has a 3D effect. The butterflies getting smaller as they recede into the distance works very well.

I'm really enjoying your thread, and it seems to be getting better as the weeks pass.

Cheers, Patrick

Thank you Patrick, I'm a bit out of practice - having had a lost mojo for most of last year.

Great idea, and very creative! Cop-out you say? The good ideas often don't need much effort. :)

Hi, Sarah, that almond is a nice take on delicate and it's almost about to drop off by the look of it.

I do wonder what a portrait composition would have looked like?

The white look a bit dark, unless that's their real colour

Can't make my mind up whether the dark spot on the almond add or distracts??

Chaos, yip, as soon as I saw it I liked it. I like the dark butterflies, but parts of the sky look over exposed. A tad of the left maybe?

All said, great chaos and very imaginative.

Cheers.

9.52.2011 - Finish every day and be done with it... by Sonriendo, on Flickr

I was thinking of where reality finishes and reflection begins, but as it was shout in the evening as the sun was going down, I used the first line of a Ralph Waldo Emerson Poem

Finish every day and be done with it.
You have done what you could.
Some blunders and absurdities
no doubt have crept in;
forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day;
begin it well and serenely
and with too high a spirit
to be cumbered with
your old nonsense.

This day is all that is
good and fair.
It is too dear,
with its hopes and invitations,
to waste a moment on yesterdays.

Hi Sarah,

I totally agree with Tina on this one. It is a lovely photo and you have the colours, focus and control of lighting spot on.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi, Sarah, I'm a sucker for reflections, so nice one!

I'm really drawn to the reflections of the masts on the far left hand side. I like the patterns made by the ripples.

Cheers.

Lovely picture Sarah. It has a very tranquil feel. Amazing capture of the reflections and there is some lovely evening light.

I think I would have liked a little more space on the right of the picture, but perhaps that wasn't possible.

Great pic  Patrick

Trio was the subject matter for this weeks 52 challenge, and my immediate thought was the dogs. But to get all three of them looking at me at the same time would take far more expertise in Photoshop than I have. Either that or a ladder and their brimming food bowls!!!

Instead I give you my latest knitting project which involves using knitting three threads on very fat needles.

10/52 A Trio of Threads by Sonriendo, on Flickr

Sorry that I've not had time to respongd to peoples comments or threads recently, but real life is just a little hectic lately. There are some more finished blanket pics on my blog

The subject matter is maybe not that interesting to me. But I really like the composition and dof. Colours are very striking and well exposed. One small sparkly bit of thread on the right does draw my eye a bit and would maybe be best cloned out. Great personal take on the theme.

:agree:

Wooohoooo Thanks Colin; I'm not saying anything new but I'm agreeing with someone new ;)

Hiya Sarah,

Love the colours in your Trio shot, although agree with Colin about the shiny spot being a tad distracting.

I've also been over to look at your blanket pics on your blog, they are gorgeous.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Great 'finished' shot - wonderful reflection and thank you for a lovely poem :)
A great 'trio' shot also - beautiful colours and texture. Took a peek at your blog and the blanket looks lovely and cosy. :)
