Sonriendo's 52 of 2011 - Week 10 - Trio

better I think - a bit more contrast and the sky looks a bit more dramatic - really really like this shot!!!

I also love your edited version of the first shot - nicely done :)

I love photos like this. Lots of little details to look at :)

The sky is nicer now, and the reflections in the water work well with the buildings on the bend.

I much prefer the new edit, but just to be really picky (sorry) The white dot in the water, I think it is a reflection of part of an aerial is slightly distracting. But other than that it looks really good to me.

Hi Sarah,

Well done on the edit it has improved the image. I have to agree about the white dot in the water, noticed it the first time but forgot to mention it.

Otherwise a lovely image

Cheers

Dawn :)

Inoticed that too, but forgot to clone it out :bang:

Great shot that fits the theme in so many ways. Looks to have a slight slope, but that may be because I am viewing on my phone.

Hiya Sarah,

Well done on the theme for OPEN, lovely DOF. Agree with Tina about the door handle.

Otherwise and nice image.

Cheers

Dawn :)

I like the shot. The door is handle is really different. As Tina has said it is a shame the bottom has been cut off. Like the OOF figure in the background. Colours work well.

Love the open image, very well thought and composed. Agree with the above comments but only because they've made them. If I had seen this image first I don't think I would seen it, learning so much from other people comments about other peoples work, thanks all.

Look forward to your image for this weeks idea.

See now, I didn't know whether to line up with the wardrobes and window inside of the door, which is the main point of focus. So went with the inside as I think the door being open throws it out of line.

Thank you Dawn

Door handles like this are quite standard here, much better than the brassy ones I had in the UK ;)

Thank you, hopefully we will all come out of this having learnt a few things :D

Hiya nice shots so far! Good luck with it

For your black and white's i can totally suggest trying silver efex pro well to be honest i can recommend all niks stuff! Yoou can try them on a trial for about 15 days free ( and if you have a few email addys can just use an different one for another 15 :p) They are fab. I found them through someone here when doing my 365.

Ooooh, thanks for that Lisa, not terribly expensive either is it?

interesting shot :) lovely dof, shame about the handle but sometimes you can't see for looking (as I well know  ) makes me want to push the door open and see what that person is up to ;) lol!!!

Hindsight is such a marvelous thing  She wasn't up to much - trying to fire the camera without the remote getting in shot

Well, I have to say that I came up with loads of ideas for hard and actually found it quite easy ;) But what I've ended up submitting didn't feature on my original list :cuckoo:

05-52-2011 Hard Working by Sonriendo, on Flickr

I just loved the combination in colours here, think my focus is pretty spot on, but my exposure leaves a little to be desired. This was actually only one of eight shots, so not too much garbage, considering that they don't stay still for very long.

So give me your opinions please :)

Hiya Sarah,

Nice take on the theme, well done. Do you already have bees? Wow, here in England it is still too bliming cold and windy for them to make an appearance, but hopefully soon they will be out buzzing around and spring and summer will hopefully follow soon.

I agree about the colour combination, they work well together. I think a bit of a crop and lighten would bring the bee more to the fore.

Otherwise a lovely image. BTW what type of flower/plant is that?

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thank you Dawn - don't have a clue on it's name  But it looks like a red hot poker and has leaves like an Aloe Vera!!

Good colours, great composition, I really like that. Shame the bee didn't get a bit more light on it to bring out the yellow stripes.

Well done to get such a good shot in just eight tries for such a tricky subject, too!

Seeing as I don't really follow the minimalist school of interior design, and am in fact more influenced by the Steptoe school of thought, I knew that I had a bit of a head start on this weeks topic.

However 6 months worth of unopened post is not particularly attractive, and trying to style the mound of cast off wellie boots and trainers that seem to be forever congregating by the kitchen door, was really beyond me ;) So, I went for this... a cluttered background

06-52-2011 Clutter by Sonriendo, on Flickr

What do you think please?

Very well exposed, lots od detail without blowing the whites on the blossom. To my eye I want the shot to be further along the branch, more blossom and less bare branch. That would give a busier image but I'm not really sure that it says clutter to me.
To explain better, by looking at the image without a title or explanation I think a lot of other words would be used before getting to clutter. (lots of positive words, I don't mean that to sound bad)
But with your explanation it makes perfect sense and also means you have taken a much more pleasing picture than I have this week. Think I need to rethink my thinking. :)

Hi Sarah,

That is a lovely blossom photo and agree with what Colin has said about more blossoms in the pic.

A nice natural take on the theme, which I like too, so well done for thinking outside of the 'clutter' box.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Sarah ,what a great "outside the "box take on the theme for clutter
Beautiful colors ,DOF looks just right & agree with what others said about less bare branch
Great shot

Your 'hard working' and 'clutter' shots are beautiful - the colours in both are amazing. Great shots:clap:

Thank you Joan, I guess I am so fortunate to be able to live where I do and generally have such fantastic light :D

Delicate was this week's pick and so, it's the old almond blossom trick again ;-). I was lucky to find this branch with just sky behind it and one of last years almonds still on the branch. I wanted to include the almond to denote the hardness that comes from the delicate and also as a contrast. Also have been titting about in photoshop, as I've not played with it for ages!

So... or  ?

Oh, and hopefully I will be able to get round and see everybody else's pics this week, as I got a bit bogged down with "stuff" last week - sorry.

Very nice Sarah, whatever you have done in PS has made the sky look like parchment to me. The whole picture has an aged feel about it. I like it a lot. Think I would prefer a tighter crop but that's probably just me.

Thank you Mr Sprout. It's just a texture that I added - polishing a turd I believe it's called

Thank you Martin - am off to check out your 52 now, as I don't think I've seen it yet
