 Hello and thanks for taking the trouble to drop in.

I have had 3 failed attempts at doing a 365.

This time I will succeed as 1 a week is so much less time consuming than 1 a day.

Any crits and comments will be ignored taken on board and most welcome :-)

My full set can be seen here on Flickr

Good Luck to all of you who are in it this year and I am hoping to drop in on all of your threads soon.

01-52-2011 - Accomodation Available for Handy Type by Sonriendo, on Flickr

When TP put the topic of Accomodation, I was thrilled as there are so many abandoned and ruined houses around here that I just knew what my subject would be.

This was taken at 18mm - the widest I can go and on my kit lens. Not one of my most favourite shots, but I would like to start shooting wider than I am used to.

I like that shot :)
A definite fix-er-up-er

Thanks Andy, I think it needs a big 'dozer to go in first!

or some.....

Hi Sarah - wow that "accommodation" sure needs a bit of work:lol:

I like this image but I think it needs something to make it jump out. Perhaps if you were to darken the sky and/or increase the contrast.

Cheers, Patrick

Now that you've said that I agree  I will try a reprocess later today (if I get time) and run a diagonal gradient filter from that top right hand corner

I like the composition and clarity, envy the light and love the take on the theme!

Looking forward to your next shots...

Thanks Tina, I am so very lucky to live where I do, as we have superb light :)

Good start to your 52 Sarah. I hope you enjoy doing it as much as I did last year

Thanks Sue - I am sincerely hoping it will be what I need to give my mojo a boost. Actually I am looking forward to finding out what next week brings us allready :D

Hiya Sarah

Is that the bar you live next door to  Fantastic, no doors or windows so no lock-ins/outs :D

Seriously though, I do like this photo and your take on the theme.

My only crit would be to crop the bit of building poking out of the right and perhaps lift the shadow a bit. Otherwise I like the sky, as mentioned perhaps a bit of a grad on the right and/or up the contrast a bit.

Great start and I look forward to following your 52 thread.

Cheers

Dawn :)

YES!!! I like that very much

Especially like the way you have captured the bit of sky through the first window, which I hadn't notices in the first pic. The shadow from the adjacent building is still there, but in some way adds character, i.e., a sense that it is not alone IYKWIM.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks Dawn.

Landscape type things are way out of my comfort zone, so hopefully next weeks topic will allow me to close in a little  Still, it is good to stretch ones self and do something new :)

I like the cropped picture more than the original one

Hey Sarah, we are all going to come up against a theme that is a challenge to us from an inspirational and technical perspective throughout the next 51 weeks.

I think you have 'taken the bull by the horns' with this one and done exceptional!

I shiver at the thought of some of the themes to come, mainly because there are a few subjects that I am not comfortable with either. So don't feel alone.

If we all support and encourage each other I think we may just make it to the end of the year and look back with much appreciation and achievement.

Good luck and I will closely follow your 52, as I will many others.

Take care

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thank you so much, and yes some topics are quite scary - but it's a day wasted if you don't learn something new

I like the crop, the building on the right added nothing. I like the palm - makes me wonder if it is behind the building or coming through the roof!

Definitely needs some TLC!

I think that part of the reason for doing the 52 is to push you/me/us, and make you look for different things outside what you would normally do. That should help improve our photography - hopefully.

Hi Sarah, the revised version is definitely better. Has a lot more focus and impact.

Just waiting for your week 2...;)

 Sarah informed me ealier tonight that she ate here 'week 2' photo before she could get the pic, apparently it was too delish to resist, so we may be waiting for some time for it to digest

02-52-2011 Turning over a new leaf by Sonriendo, on Flickr

So, week 2 of 52 in 2011 completed. I actually made a "New" recipe yesterday, and as it ws a nice mixture of colours I had planned to use it as this weeks shot. It was half eaten and not at all photogenic before I remembered :-)

Luckily I had another couple of ideas up my sleeve, and decided that I would go with this one. 2010 was a bit of a lost photo mojo year for me, so in 2011 I would like to draw a line under that and turn over a new leaf, in my photography and a few other areas of my life too

Really nice Sarah, lovely colours & Bokeh

Hi Sarah,

Lovely shot and great DOF.

I like your though of the theme, i.e., turning over a new leaf. Good luck with the rest of the project.

Cheers

Dawn :)

03-52-2011 - Street Style by Sonriendo, on Flickr

So, here we are on week 3 and I'm still in :D. Decided to go for street style. This is a view from one of the bridges that cross the River Segura, here in Orihuela. I decided on a b/w conversion, as this something else I'm not too hot on. But, I think that my blacks are black and my whites are white so

What do you think?

Great reflections on the water, not sure if another angle could have made more of them?

Nothing to do with the picture but my Mum stays just up the road from you.

Like the reflections in the water and how the river curves round, just the right amount of sky in it too I feel.

Callum.

oh thats a really nice shot:)
Agree re: reflections looking really good, and so's the composition and focus:-)

would it be possible to have it b+W, but not the sky?
(Don't even know if it's possible, but think it would look nice!)

I like all your shots Sarah, nice composition style.

I think the week 1 photo is slightly under exposed but love the colours in the stones and foliage.

Week 2 is lovely and I like the red in the background which makes it much more interesting and brings out the green more.

Week 3, I'd have probably made it a bit more contrasty, apply an S curve. But a nice, well composed shot.

Looking forward for more :)

Hi Sarah,

Well done, I like your thought process for this theme Week 3.

The reflection in the water is sharp and clear. As has already been mentioned, a bit more contrast would be good.

I'm not too clued up on b&w conversions myself, although tried a few, but it is another technique I have to learn. Having said that I do think the whites are a bit bright, especially the far end left building and the side of the building on the right.

A well composed image, look forward to seeing what you produce for week 4.

Cheers

Dawn :)

really like the shot, great reflections and the river curves lead you into the shot.

Hi ya
I'm not a fan of building shots but I do llike the stillness of the water & the sharp reflections in it .I also love the way the river curves ,makes me want to follow it & find out where it goes ! So I guess I'm saying Great Shot

Really like your 'new' shot - colours and dof spot on. I also like the B&W 'style' shot particularly the reflection and the curve of the river.

Hi Sarah,
I like the shot a lot ;) if I had to nit pick maybe would darken the sky a little to give it a bit of mood other than that great shot me thinks

Hmmm, thanks all for your comments, I will have another go at playing around with the contrast.
