weekly Sonriendo's 52:2014 Thread - #9 Positive/Positivo

Great idea - well shot, nowt wrong with the hair - the bunches add to the image of a bubble gum blowing "teen".

A little bit high-key for me on this one though..

Again, another awesome entry from you. I like the expression on the models face, the eyes make it for me - excellent capture! (y)

Thank you

Forehead does look a bit blown out tbh - must check the SOOC - might have over done it a bit.

Bubble - another cracking portrait
You are lucky to have great 'willing' models
Love the lighting

There's really no "luck" involved it's big sticks and threats all the way ;)

Great. Made me laugh. Great lighting and expression.

Cheers.

Thanks

Hi Sarah, sorry I've not made it here before now,, I'm rubbish with the commenting!

Loving the bubble shot, first one I've seen so far of bubblegum (y) It made me chuckle as well. I like the washed out high key look, yes her forehead looks a little blown but it doesn't detract from a great shot.

Don't worry about it - I think I've done OK withthe commenting so far - but I'm sure I won't be so good at it further down the line :D

Super eye catching pic :) a great original idea to use bubblegum...and well caught before it burst.

See, bubble gum was one of the first things I thought of, so wanted to get in there quick - I'm not so spolied for bubbly chocolate choice as you lot ;)

Another fun and engaging image, and her wide open eyes and expression really make it. I'd have no idea how to turn green bubblegum pink, so well done on the PP too (y)

Thank you Andrea - I¡m losing my models for a couple of weeks now as they go to their dad's :( Any portrait might have to be a selfie :(

Another good piece Sarah.....Great fun idea which is very well staged.....I like how you've made the bubblegum pink.....A little too bright for me on the forehead area though

Actually - just checked it on LIghtroom and the only bits that are clipped are the centre of the bubble and a few spots on her jumper :)

Bubble - great eyes and hair. The bubble is a little washed out otherwise perfect.

Perhaps I should have made the bubble a darker pink

Hi Sarah
Bubble - good idea and nice comp - eyes and hair of the model are excellent.- really animated feeling. Perhaps a bit overblown for me and this seems to make the bubble gum look stuck on.

I do tend to O/E a bit - perhaps I'll try some darker shots soon *scary*

I like high key stuff generally and I think that it does suit the 'poopin' image that you have sought to creater and it is only minorly over in my view. It might even look different on another monitor

It looks different direct in Lightroom to on Flickr :D

Hi Sarah

I struggle with people pics but kinda like this one...typical pose for a teen , really well lit & sharply focused :) this is ebcoming a habit with you (y)

Really - I only do faces :D This week I will try and go out of my comfort zone ;)

Absolutely loving this shot. Great idea and well executed and processed (well done for changing the gum colour). There's so much to like from the expression through to the shaper of the choker matching the outline of the bubble. Super.

That's what this challenge forces you to do, always good if you ask me!

I'm not sure what would really try me tbh - I've been out with a friend of mine this evening - he was busy snapping away, but I couldn't really "see" anything - but having a headache from hell didn't really help matters :( He's busy processing already - mine are all still on the camera - I know there's nothing special on there, even though I've not even "chimped" them

Thank you - green gum was really not nice :D

Hahahahaha, mine regularly get left sitting for days!

Hi Sarah, another great shot which I can't fault! It must be lovely to have willing models, - bribery, big sticks nothing works on our sons!!:)

Mine actually don't mind at all so I'm quite lucky :D They're with their dad at the moment - so hoping I don't have to stand in for them this week as I'm not at all photogenic

Hmmm, not at all impressed with this theme - but here we go

So, first of all if you could sort of squint at it a bit, and ignore the extremely soft focus that would be cool - a bit of imagination and the model becomes about 20 years younger and far more glamorous - can you see what I was trying to go for ;)

And then this wee poor effort - again ignoring the soft focus please :D

Well done for having a go - plenty of us didn't even get that far!

We expect you to be back to form next week though........

Two very nice fitting images for the theme, ( I am not mentioning your softness on the images ) i think I have to go with number 2 I like the swirly whirly smoke patterns.

Thanks Mandy

Noooo, this is form - previous has just been happy accidents ;)

Hi Sarah, has to be number 1 for me (i like a good squint) because its different,
not going to bother with 2 as I have seen enough smoke pics to last me a lifetime

I'd be tempted to combine the two and use the smoke shot as the smoke coming from the mouth and see what that looks like maybe?

No.1 is the better idea for me (y)

It's very pffft - we'll just pass this week right over I think ;)

Well, I might have to reshoot when the house models are back - your method would involve faffing around in Photoshop - and I really don't think that either shot warrants that :D In my head - it was a damn fine photo :D

What a PITA this theme has been!
shakehead.gif
.........and there was me thinking I was going to be the only one to struggle :D

Your 2nd smoke image is better than mine Sarah............I couldn't even get one with colour like that. :banghead:

First image for me, it holds more interest, is the model another one of your daughters? :)

Like #1 best because it's unusual. #2 has got some interesting shapes in it - lower part looks like a giraffe's head and neck.
