Daily Sonriendo's 365 - Finished and thank flickerty for that :D

Loving these abstracts Sarah keep them coming!!

love the contrast caused by the shadows and this time have no idea
Thank you

It looks a bit like a painted summer seat. Not bad for a meh day Sarah.
Well, it isn't :)
It's another decent abstract, no need to be meh :) But we all are like that with our own work.
I think that we're always our worst critics tbh
I think it looks like a sun bed painted blue!
It's not that either

Thanks Trace - I'll see what I can do ;)

Another cracking abstract Sarah  Darn you I have no idea what it is but will recognises it as soon as you reveal all

You seem to have a bit of a flare for this abstract thing, Sarah! Another one I really like!

Thank you, I am finding it quite fun, looking for interesting things all the time now

I like this, nice and vibrant. I wouldn't have it as wallpaper though...

I really like this - the three shades of blue and the angle in the frame. No idea what it is though!

Just about managed another one today, went into one of the girlies' bedrooms looking for a specific something to photograph and found this instead :)

great colours and loving the abstract shots you have done this week

I saw yours on my mobile earlier but it was so teeny I couldn't work out what it was! Looks good now I can see it - the colours work really well!

I do love a good abstract  they can make a really interesting photo and that looks great

What is it?

Matt if I told you I'd have to kill you ;)

2 damn fine shots for 2 "meh" days! Especially like the last "something or other" you found in one of the girlies bedroom :)

Thank you Conor and I must say you are showing dedication checking the threads at such "stupid o'clock" ;)

Well, having a break from abstracts for now :)

Had a go with the girlies instead, two for the price of one today. I was experimenting with natural light from the window and a reflector.

So, what do we think of the lighting?

In Lightroom, I just removed a couple of zits :D smoothed the skin a touch on the left hand pic, pimped the eyes a touch and jpeg converted.

Cool :)
But maybe "pimp" R/H girlies eyes a tad (more?) too, as they look a little "flat"
against the L/H girlie?

hi sarah.

great use of natural light. nice poses. like the touch of the neck. As i look at it the LHS pic seems sharper than RHS around the eyes.

I think overall great portraits, the LHS has the edge as the pose includes the neck. The RHS maybe too close in the frame for me.

I love the skin tone you've captured

Thank you - you're probably right about being too close. And yes Left is sharper for sure

Lighting is great in both, but I think you nailed LH girl!

It's most likely the positioning, but I agree with Cobra that LH eyes really do look good, but I don't think you should do too much processing on them - that was how they were caught in the pose and the light.

I think the lighting is lovely, very soft and very good use of the reflector. I would agree that's it's more on the processing side that needs a little work and that you've nailed the left hand shot. The left looks sharper than the right, not sure if that's due to composition. You could easily sharpen the right hand shot a few more notches. Especially around the eyes to make them pop (not too much though, I think some people overdo the eyes sometimes!)

Also, the 2 shots work better individually than beside each other in my opinion. They look unbalanced because they're compositionally quite different. I don't think the right hand one is too close, but I don't think it works as part of a diptych combined with the left shot. And as I mentioned the left is a slightly better shot.

I mean all of this as constructive too. Both shots are excellent, especially the lighting. As I said, it is lovely and soft and very complimentary on the models :)

Nice work :)

2 lovely shots Sarah but have to agree with everyone - LHS is a bit sharper and brighter than the RHS - Great work though

Great use of light but agree the right ones a little tight and the eyes arent quite sharp enough.

Thank you both

Nice work :)

Thanks for the lovely long crit Conor. I actually had the focussing better on LH I think and there was also a touch more sunlight to be had. They're not really meant to be in a diptych, but I was trying to be fair to the girls

I'm pleased with the lighting, which is what I really want to work on this year, so I do seem to be getting that better. Next step to improve PP skills ;)
