Just read this article on the BBC about songs that make some people cry. Can't say that a song has ever made me cry, but some have provoked emotions. For example, Joy Division's "Atmosphere" makes me feel sad. Orbital's "One Perfect Sunrise" fills me with elation. The fourth movement of Beethoven's 9th amazes me with its awesomeness. "Bodies" by the Sex Pistols makes me feel engergised and "Europe Endless" by Kraftwerk always lifts my spirits.

What about you? Any song make you cry?

Anything by Susan Boyle and a few others. I've got no sad associations with any song luckily.

Not songs so much as music.
But I think the last song that made me cry was Coldplay's "Fix You", and I'm not a Coldplay fan!

Oh, just remembered....Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel, "Don't Give Up".

Kate Bush - This Woman's Work. reminds me of the funeral of my mates 1 month old little boy. He carried the little white box in both arms into the Church we both attended.

O Danny Boy, reminds me of my mum when she was alive and laughing out loud together on the settee watching TV

And even though you wont like me or it for all I stand for and all it says a Hymn. and the part I find emotive is in Bold and Italics. Mock me all you like, slag me off all you like I expect it now here.

And Can It Be
And can it be that I should gain
An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

’Tis mystery all! The Immortal dies!
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love Divine!
’Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.
’Tis mercy all! let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father’s throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race:
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.

Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness Divine,
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Bold I approach the eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Wonderful words for me and for my life.

Act of rememberance by the proclaimers, or green fields of France are both sad and I'm sure I've had something in my eye after a wee dram and remembering lost ones
Probably a few others that remind me of mum could set me off if I'm feeling a bit down, but that's more about the memories than the songs I suppose

Not one to make me cry but does raise a wide variety of emotions from a time when apartheid was starting to unravel....
