Yes
that looks fab! just a shame its on the other side of the country.

I never noticed that, its actually only about 40 minutes from me.....

That is indeed a very interesting thing. Maybe some local trust or museum could be interested.

I'm tempted but I do have about 600 slides from my wife's aunties to look through and scan so I'm a bit wary about taking on something else....I shall ponder and cogitate.

still tempted though. You could scan them in the flog them to the imperial war museum or something :) I think if the price doesnt go mad in the next coupld of hours i might stick a bid in. With all the WWI stuff kicking off lately some body would have an interest.

Go for it Ash.

What an amazing archive. Surely they ought to be in a museum. It would be a terrible shame to break up the collection.

Who knows, a museum might currently be the highest bidder!

This stuff might not be that easy to scan; you'd need a LF scanner anyway (V700?). The glass slides are very fragile (note the number already cracked), and might hold the images at the wrong height.

Since there appears to be a fair bit of interest from the folk on here I shall sit back and watch the auction, I hope somebody on here does get them, it would be a fascinating project.

well thinking about it, it would be a 10 hour round trip if i won then so i dont think i'll bother. Id love them though , i just couldnt trust any courier in this country to get them to me in one peice.

Its gone up a bit.

Gone, for £132

Had a feeling there might be a late surge. Still a good price for a bit of history though.

and it went from someone with 1 bid 10 seconds before the end. So we wouldnt of had a chance against an ebay sniper anyway.
