I'm kinda wondering why you don't just stop buying film cameras, pool what you would have spent on them and buy a dslr.
You'll still be able to use the 50p lenses you con old ladies out of at boot sales...lol, and you'll save on processing.

I got an F100 the other day for less than £100, luckily its a keeper, but then I buy film cameras because they shoot film, not because they are cheaper.

Cameras bodies are just a tool to me and don't love any of em although I have favourites...I'm a lens man and can get very good results from a lens bought for a £1, so 35mm lenses for £100 make me gulp...mind you, years ago thought nothing of spending lots of dosh for medium format gear but finally realised it's not the equipment that makes good photos but the photographer, although quality gear does help...so it's the fun of achieving something at minimum costs, as I can go out and buy a 2 grand digital camera but wouldn't be happy.... so something for the amateur psychologists to work out
BTW I got done by those old ladies with their camera and lenses for £1.50 as I couldn't cure a light leak and threw the camera away

You're one of those that thinks they've won the lottery when they get 37 shots on a 36 exposure roll, aren't you...lol

You don't need to spend 2k on a dslr, £100 will pretty much do it.
I do understand that its the content (grand kids) that matters, not what its shot on, the shooting film and budget lenses thing seems a completely separate interest.

M42 is a bit like that, million dollar pictures with cheapo glass, but you're gonna struggle with Nikon and its even tougher with AF.
Maybe if they'd fannied about with mounts and made half their range obsolete a few years ago, there'd be lots of bargain basement glass about.

Hey you know me more than I know myself

Well if you have spare time like me and suffering from "been there done it syndrome" in between seeing the family? Then what I do i.e. playing with lenses and looking for bargains..all helps to keep the interest in photography going.

Also I have some experience of Nikons and AF as I have the EM, N2000 and f-401 but short on Nikon lenses and Tamron have filled the wide angle gap.
