Some pics darker than others

I was taking pics at the weekend and got a few of them 2 or 3 at a time (I had to wear a glove - don't ask!) The first pic that was taken was the exposure I would have expected, but quite a few of the ones from the second click were darker. I know the light was not good but I have not noticed it before although I normally only take one picture at a time! They may have come out ok if I had tried to process them instead of binning them, but I have enough problems with processing without taking on harder pictures :lol:

Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen, I was using tv mode, and the sigma 70-200 f2.8 if that makes a difference?
 
what were the pics of?

i would guess if you were outside a cloud moved over the sun or something like,
if inside, did you use flash? it may not have fired at the correct power for the 2nd and third shots.
 
It'll be one of two things.

1) You're using the flash and the second shot is fired so quickly after the first that it doesn't have time to recharge properly and so the picture is dark, because the camera assumes it has fired properly, when in reality it went off at half the intended power or something.

2) You have exposure bracketing on, set to go Normal, Under, Over and you're accidentally firing off two shots, the second of which is the underexposed bracket shot. AFAIK this can only happen if you are in continuous drive mode though, not single shot.
 
I was outside it was cloudy or raining all day, no sun whatoever :( no flash used and no exposure bracketing, hence my confusion!

I wish I'd not binned them now, I will have to try and replicate it at some point and see whats on the exif.
 
I have just double checked and there is no autobracketing set on the camera. I cleared the recycle bin yesterday morning after clearing loads of others out. I know it was not another copy of the image as they were in different positions, looks like one of lifes mysteries!
 
In that case, is the exposure lock set to on?

If you have it on, when you half press the shutter, it locks not only the focus but the exposure too. So if you took a picture of something bright, then only half released the shutter, it would have kept the exposure settings the same, so if you then pointed it at something darker, then fully depressed the shutter again it would underexpose.

This sounds like it could be the case if you were wearing gloves, you may have accidentally only let the shutter button half way up.
 
:( no exposure lock either, I've just checked that as well. All the second pics were of the same fence, it was just a fraction of a second further in time, so I had not moved the camera at all which is why I am so confused as to how it happened. I will have to see if it happens again and if so keep the pictures.

Edited to add, the 2 (or 3) pictures were all taken because I did not get my finger off the shutter quickly enough :$ so it did not get released at all before the extra pics were taken
