Some media exposure...

Wow, excellent images, Jon. I prefer the slightly lower ones, presumably taken on approach, where there is a clearer view of some of the buildings, but all fantastic.

Congratulations on getting them published too. (y)

Did you ever get any from between the buildings at Kai Tak? (although tbh, thinking about it, you probably wouldn't have had the time to take your eyes off the controls  )

Thanks Carl! I never flew into Kai Tak unfortunately, it was closed down before I started flying to Hong Kong. As you said, I doubt I would have much time for photographing anything on that approach....

A stunning set and and an interesting insight into the design/layouts of the newer cities, seen at night they have what seems to be a very different character & look.

You need to get in touch with Tim Peake & compare your images of the same locations. Could be very interesting. ;)

Great stuff!

Thanks very much for the comments everyone! I am really pleased to get some exposure. Its been 6 years since I started in earnest with the aerial photography and I have learned a lot on the way, but stiļl learning!

The agency did a great job in getting the article out; its even on China News!

There is a book in the pipeline :)
Excellent.

Do me a favour please... make a mental note of my interest and pm me as and when with the details as I may not spot any announcement on the forum :D

Stunning photos, you must have seen things many of us can only dream about.

Out of interest does your employer mind you making money from something you pursue whilst actively working for them (and on their property)?

It's not ever really come up....they might be upset if they knew that I got a very large payout for a shot used in one of their advertising campaigns, although the image in question was actually shot from a passenger seat. I have left the company in question now so it's a moot point. They don't like their name being mentioned without permission.

A lot of pilots from the company take pictures, as can be seen on their Facebook pages, though most are using iPhones. A friend of mine is just getting into aerial photography in a big way and is publishing a lot of images, though I believe the company has introduced a new non-disclosure agreement since I left that might cause some issues for pilots publishing their work.
