Please excuse the sort of randomness of this post, but I am absolutely delighted at some news we received today.

OK, many good folk on here will have received similar news previously, or perhaps may think I am a few sandwiches short of a picnic and think... "wtf is John on about... that's nothing to get excited about", but please believe me when I say I am so delighted at receiving this news. Also, please do forgive me for not diving into too much detail on this, but one or two on here will perhaps appreciate why this means so much to me.

My wonderful 18 yr old lad, Lloyd, received a letter today from the University of Wales - it's his official and formal offer letter for a BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems - Networks course... and I am truly, truly delighted for him, I mean.. really delighted. I am so very proud of Lloyd for his achievement in getting to this stage.

I couldn't have asked for a better, more more rewarding birthday present, I honestly couldn't have.

Thanks for reading.

I don't think so:thumbs:

Maybe a D3, 24-70, 70-200 and a SB900

Only joking, well done him. He must have worked hard to have got this far!:clap:

Honestly... if I would have had the choice, the news today would have won by a country mile. Seriously.

He must have worked hard to have got this far!:clap:
As I am sure, many other young men and women equally deserved will have done to get their offers. It's just that in my Lloyds case, he's had some significantly large hurdles to overcome - that are still there too. I am very proud.

Well done Lloyd. Congrats John to both of you, and Happy Birthday

well done him!

I bet you're soooo proud! I take that is is an unconditional offer as well? If so, then big
Thanks Carol - yes, it's an unconditional one - though he's been unofficially informed of his Diploma grades and has the necessary UCAS points. It's not this though, it's the mere fact he has achieved the offer, is why I am so proud.

My daughter Mel is off to Uni too. She is a seriously talented arty type :) I really do know how you feel and it is great. The course he is doing sounds like a really useful course. Networking is a great way of making loads of dosh for not a lot of work

That's at least two things we have in common then Cowasaki... kids off to Uni, and desire for a D700 :):)

My daughter is only going down the road luckily :)

I think I will have just enough cash by the end of July but a few hundred is destined for a certain lump of glass and metal from a fellow TPer so will happily wait till the end of August or Sept instead when hopefully I will have enough for the lens too....... It will be a mega bonus if the new model comes out by then too. (It worries me that we might end up swapping mega pixels for ISO though!)

Congrats and Well done Lloyd  You must feel like the proudest parents on the planet and Happy birthday to you

Must have been done quite late then? I'm going to Uni in September this year to study Computer Games Development and I had everything confirmed in early January.

well pleased for all of the above , i do mean it , i just hope it dont mean the only job they can get is flipping burgers :(

Congrats to your boy John, I had the same thing with my youngest, its a proud moment for sure. In fact with all three of mine, when I get a quiet moment to myself and think how well all of them have done, that little tear starts to pop out :D
