Some good kit for sale

LOL. And I can't see it for er... other reasons. ;)

Well spotted Mark!!!

there aer some SERIOUS bargins in there!!

proper cheesed off thta they guy didnt put UK in his thread other wise i would have snapped half those lenses!!

I don't want to dampen the spirit, but I don't understand, why are you selling some of your kit for like £100's less than you could get for it? I mean, a 100-400 for £400? You could easily get £600 for that, a Canon 30D+ grip for £250, you could get £400 for that easily. seems a bit too good to be true to me.

So far he seems on the level.. Still not too sure about him though..

Daft prices but smacks a little of someone being really poorly perhaps with the cruise in the offiing?

Yeah it does look legit and has no hallmarks of a scam....
The only thing being it looks too good to be true...lol
If it is, then some people are going to get some serious bargains!

i wish i'd have seen that 100-400 first though :(

Those prices are far too low - I'd always be wary about buying at that price from someone with no feedback.

Inspection/collection would be a must if I was considering buying any of that kit.

Reading between the lines I came to possibly the same conclusion that CT suggested.

There may be some important health reason why someone wants to dispose of a lot of photography gear quickly, the poster says he's 60 yrs old, and wants to take his wife on a cruise. Maybe one of them has been diagnosed with something life threatening, in which case material possessions become less important and memories / quality of life / fulfilling ambitions become the things that matters.

Its either an elaborate scam or a genuinely realistic distress sale. I guess time will tell.

the thing that gets me though, he has a flickr page, and in his kitlist he says he uses a canon 350D, why?

Even more wierd, he seems to have deleted the link to his flickr site from his profile.

edit 2. from my history folder, here's a link to his flickr account...

edit 3, it seems he's deleted his flickr profile too

Well I for one am usually the first to smell a rat but nothing here seems to point me to a scam, As been mentioned the guy may be ill and not have long left, Who knows..

But there are some serious bargains gone here..

For those who cannot see the thread I hope I'm not breaking any rules here but a taste of what you have missed..:'(

Admin staff please remove this if it breaks any rules.:)

Iv had a few messages from the guy and i can say that i believe him.. Im not sending him any money though!! im going to collect next week if all's well.. he has told me of some health problems and he comes accross as a genuine bloke, and he has NOT tried to push me to wire the cash ECT, he seems quite happy for me to collect.. so far at least.. Anyway, there should be some sort of feedback comming over the next day or so from the stuff he said he sent out 2 days ago.. fingers crossed eh..
He took quite a bashing from a guy in the US that thought he was a scammer, but everything that he said the guy put him right about!!! so, to publicly and verbaly bash the guy with NO proof was a little harsh given his health conditions.. you dont need it when your i'll and apparently there to help everyone out with a bargain or two!! this is all as i see it, if he turns out to be a scammer then s*d him.. but like i said, i FEEL he's on the level..

But i never trust anyone 100%.. thats my nature..

I could not belive the prices , pm'd him about the 50mm but never got back to me about it . but as has been said all seems above board but as he is a new member I would still drive up and collect ;)

If anyone's interested, one of those "offer made" notations is mine.

Like fraggle101, I think he's probably genuine, but I don't think it's wise to trust someone who you don't know and who could be a scammer.

I've agreed to meet him to inspect and test the item; then, if I'm happy that it as described, we'll go together to somewhere that has an internet connection and I'll transfer the money across to him. He's very happy with that.

I'd be happy to report here how it turns out......

All agreed, sounds like a good egg.. Proof is in the pudding, im really hoping he comes up trumps, he's a tog with 30 yrs experience, and i think would do well on here.. im keeping my fingers crossed.. iv got a 1Ds to make space for!! ... (Hopefully!)

still gutted about the 100-400 :(
