Can anyone tell me of any good places to buy second hand flash.

I really want the 580ex ii but too expensive second hand. If that fails I will just get the 430 ex ii.

Maybe ask if there is a huge advantage in getting the 580 instead of the 430.

For what it is worth ....

The 580 ex11
* More light output than 430EXII
* PC sync socket
* External power socket
* Master mode
* Weatherproof
* Lots of focus aid points

Bad bits 580 ex11
* Complicated menu system
* Slow recycle time
* External RF noise

The 430ex11
* Nearly as much light output as the 580EXII
* A lot cheaper than 580EXII
* Small, compact and lightweight
* Simple menu system
* Fast recycle time

Bad Bits 430 ex11

* No master facility
* No PC sync socket
* No weatherproof boot supplied

So all in all they both have there good points just depends on what your needs are as a tog...:thumbs:
 
on the recycle time thing its slower at full power but theres more light at full power

and the menu isn't complicated, besides with a 50d you're likely gonna do it all from the camera lcd when on shoe/cable

580 is just better, but when needs must the 430 is a very very capable flash so get what you can afford

580 swivels 180 degrees in both directions.
