Im going to have a wee go at some still life and some macro shots.

Can you give me some advice about what you usually use for your backgrounds and any other advice you can think of.....

Lighting tips also welcome!

thanks x

Unless you want to invest in some home studio stuff, you can't go far wrong with simple bed sheets of the colour background you want and a couple of desk lamps. Better still, natural light if you can set up close enough to a good natural light source. Don't place the subject too close to the back drop though, otherwise it will show up every crease and wrinke.

Get a light tent. Honestly, they're the nuts.

No good for midget campers though.

I sometimes just use mount board for my backgrounds and if you want a nice reflective one put some perspex in front of it
here is one I did for a club comp with mount board and perspex.

You'll get a light tent (dome) with 4 coloured backdrops for about a £10 - £20 on eBay. I recently bought the 50cm one. They are ideal for still life stuff.

For macro work - you can't beat a ringflash

I got arrested for a ring flash once...

*Vomits!* ;)

Tell you what though, if your 'Ring Flash' can light Macro work - you've got bigger problems my good man! See a doctor!

Sorry double post

Dozens of the little buggers here
