Right I'm registered for the Solutions Expo in London this week. Now I noticed that there is the action areas and it sounds like you can have a go at shooting these. The thing is, is that with the D3 etc or with your own kit?

I'm just trying to gauge whether it's worth carrying my kit with me. I'm hoping to have a play with the D3 to keep the lust at bay until I get mine ( Hopefully on Friday )

Anyone else going?

Yeah that's my thinking. But on the flip side I'm not keen on lugging the kit through London only to get there and find I don't need it and look like a chump lugging the bag round with me all day

I may go, I am undecided yet. Not sure if it's worth it though being a status that is below amateur.

I went to the one in Manchester a couple of weeks ago and from what i could see as it was caos trying to get your hands on a D3 as you can imagine. They would let you have a couple of minutes with it to have a look around it and get a feel for it,but i think all the action shots that were being done with it were the by the Nikon guys.

If you leave your kit at home you will know for sure you can't use it if you want to.
Is that what you got it for?

My point is if you can't shoot the action stuff with your own kit there's no point lugging it around on the tubes for nothing. Other people have been to these expos so I was asking what the situation is.

I went to the Bristol one last week the action setup was a nice gymnast/acrobat and 3 anybodies/joe public (depending how quick you were to volunteer) using D3 with instruction from Nikon guy how to shoot low light/high iso.

Also a studio setup with model which was basicly showing how wonderful a SB800 is ;) seperate sessions for Fashion, bridal and Portraits, this was a demo series rather than public have a go if you know what i mean.

on that day i realised that my pop up flash is virtually useless:bang:

Interesting day out. Had the Nikon reps confirm the delivery to dealers should be tomorrow of the D3... Please let my dealer get enough...

Also stood next to a guy from a sports shooting agency who will be getting 20!!! D3's before the weekend... And they want 2 more...

Lexar were doing some great deals on 300x UDMA CF cards ( the 4GB ones were £20 cheaper than I'd seen them anywhere else ) so I got a couple of those :)

As for taking the camera, well I did, but tbh I wish I'd not bothered. I spent so much time in the conference rooms listening to the talks that I was never at the live action bits soon enough to get a spot.

Not a bad day though all told.
