Anyone got one they would recommend? Ideally to charge camera batteries as well as USB devices. Needs to be light since it'll be mainly used on holiday. Anyone tried using a car battery trickle type solar charger and a universal battery charger for the job?

They just don't supply enough juice.

Here's a selection of solar chargers for your camera batteries - LINK
The beefiest one of them will, under strong sunlight, being moved to stay facing the sun, manage to charge one LP-E6 battery per day. If you're not around to move it every few hours, or you're moving around with it, then it won't even manage that. And there aren't that many places in the world where you'll get 6 hours of continuous sunlight.

A charger powered by a car's lighter socket will work faster.

Cheers for that, Frank. I would be using it in Crete, where there is almost guaranteed strong sunlight between rise and set but if it'll struggle even in that, there's no point! I'll just have to try not to forget the 12V car cord for the universal charger this year... (We have access to mains power every night but extra options are always handy and power supplies [Greek] aren't always reliable!)
