Starting a course at night school in 2 weeks , its aimed at beginers like me and according to the syllabus includes some basic Photoshop manipulation.
I havent got any software as yet , cant see me stretching to Photoshop as yet , can anyone recomend a suitable alternative that may compliment to college course ?

Might be worth checking with the Tutor (ahead of time?). He/She may well suggest an application which will fit in with the syllabus best. Hopefully, that will be Photoshop Elements or PSP.

Keep in mind, whichever Adobe product you buy, Adobe give huge discounts to students ... check out the prices on their site!
 
Thanks for the advice and suggestions , price after discount to students is £41 for PSE 6 , but student id card with photo has to be faxed first before release of software.
There are a few disc only buys on fleabay for about £20 but not boxed & minus manual , can anyone comment on these ?

My dad did a similar night course and they were using a freebie called XNView.

It is worth checking with the tutor first though. Elements is great though, because it also organises your photos too.

Yes it might be worth waiting for that or to see if that forces 6 down in price .
