Edit My Images
No
hey people as a newby to the world of snap snap i am looking for some software to edit my pictures and reccommendations would be great

Adobe Photoshop elements is a very good package - Play.com had version 10 for 29.99 delivered not too long ago.

SERIF I think has Photo Impact - older versions for free! if you listen to an attempt to sell you latest version -

But I thing the Adobe software is better

Photoscape - comparatively limited, but very easy to use.

GIMP - can do most things, but more difficult to learn.

Also

Faststone, Irfanview and Paint.Net

All are worth having a look at as all of them are free.

Photoshop elements :) 95% of photoshop without the massive price tag.

Lightroom is also fantastic but is more for cataloging with some simple adjustments. More expensive than elements but if you take a lot of shots far easier to manage all of your photos.

I use gimp at work as well it's pretty good to

Thanks peeps might look into the adobe one, has anyone heard of APERTURE

My brother-in-law uses Apeture quite a bit, says it's very good. He also uses Photoshop a lot as well.

Are you using a Mac or a PC? I use Apple Aperture, but it is Mac-only.

You can download free trials of Lightroom and Aperture. I have heard good things about Elements, but haven't tried it myself. iPhoto is obvious (free) option if you're on the Mac, though a little limited.

Two votes from me. Picasa is a great little program, free, easy to use and great face detection. However, I have just bought Lightroom 3 and am loving it! Little complicated at first to set up but lots of tutorials and books available. The editing facility is fantastic and I rarely use PSE now.
Hope that helps a bit.

Phil

Also check out Photofiltre 7 it's a free software fairly similar to the older full version of photoshop.
