I'm a complete digital novice, only been using Canon 5D M1 for three months. I only shoot in jpeg as I've no editing software or skills.

Ive heard good things about Lightroom 3 & Elements 9, so which might suit my below average skills for editing in RAW etc?

Advice welcome please....

You can download a free trial of each from Adobe so you can see which you get on with best.

Lightroom 3 is an excellent program for handling RAW files and organising your photos.

The LR organiser can handle a lot more images than PSE, and (to me at least) is more intuitive to use.

LR RAW editing is very powerful and (importantly) fast.

Elements 9 is much more targeted at editing of individual photographs - and specifically has the ability to create 'layers' for a single image and edit them independently before merging to a single, combined image.

Personally I find that LR 3 does 95% of what I need - and when I occasionally need the extra power of PSE it will export to that (I have LR 3 & PSE 6) directly if you have both installed.
