software for digital photography

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I have always enjoyed taking photographs, and have recently bought a digital camera. However the programme I have that came with the camera is very limited.

I looking for an easy to use software, which will allow me a little more creativity in editing my photos.

Please take pity on a new starter.

photoshop elements is always a good starting point. If you can afford it, then photoshop, but you need deep pockets for that.

unless you have a Nikon in which case I'd recommend Capture NX (which I use) ahead of Elements
