I have a 40D & Canons own DPP software; I would like advice on whether or not I should pursue learning the ins & out of DPP or purchase something like Elements 9 etc?

I would like to be able to upload RAW images & tinker as required (sharpening, WB, colour contrast & correct lens distortion etc)

Suggestions welcome :)

I would give the trial versions of Elements and Lightroom a go

I use both Canon DPP and Elements (version 8) and found that for most of the time I use Elements.

I've found the tutuorials on CD that come with Digital Photo Magazine are really useful for learning and getting to grips with PSE. The same goes with Photo Plus mag as well.

I have seen on another thread that PC World were selling PSE9 at a really low price, not sure if it still is on offer though.

There a plenty of free editors around too - eg Photoscape, Irfanview, Paint.net, GIMP.
