Hi,

I have a little project I'm working on which involves OCF in London during the evening. However, the 580 EX is a rather harsh' and I wanted to find an easy & light way to modify the light.

I've looked at some of the softboxes but they're a bit cumbersome and I'm not going to have a great deal of space or kit with me, but would look at using a stand/tripod for the flash unit.

I have the flash unit and triggers, I just need a way of controlling the light. I did once make something out of the base of a plastic milk bottle, but results were a bit mixed.

Thanks,
Steve

Different options with varying levels of usefulness. If you don't need anything massive have a look at the Rogue flashbender, i think they do a couple of sizes.

I've also got one of the Lastolite Ezybox softboxes, which is okay but doesn't get used as much as the flashbender. I bought one of the smaller ones which may have been my mistake!

I remember seeing these too but don't know how good they are! Or if they're even available over here

I'm tempted to purchase one of them Godox soft boxes. Do you think one of the small cheap amazon stands will be man enough to keep it upright when outside? I do have a more heavy duty stand - the lencarta one. But I'm thinking about portability...

I've also taken the plunge on the godox 80cm softbox and can't wait to try it out! The flashbender was also on my list of things to buy as you can do snoot work as well as bounce with one easy setup.

I've also got the same question about weight and stands. I've got some cheap stands and will see how they cope indoors to see if they'd be any use outdoors if not i'll be buying some heavier stands and I think some weight bags to keep them seated in the wind.

Thanks all, I've ordered a Godox softbox, just what I was looking for.
