Why has no one invented an easy to construct softbox. I hate them and think they are dangerous :gag:

Please someone point me to a type that doesn't hate humans and little hands grrrr

Oh, how I know that feeling, I now keep one made up in the loft so I don't take my own eye out!

I know it's hellishly expensive but I also bought a Bowens beauty dish. I gives great light and you don't have to construct the damn thing.

Depending on what mount your lights use, there are options. Bowens have a speed ring, that makes it quick and eazy to put together a softbox.

If that is still not good enough for you, try a Norman Octobox. It opens up like an umbrella, and then you velcro the defuser panels on (you can't get faster then that). You can get adaptors for various light systems.

or just use white shoot through umbrellas with a reflector

I'm going with the loft idea... well spare room... I hate going to the loft almost as much as softboxes... spiders live up there

Unfortunately shoot through umbellas and softboxes produce different effects

there IS an EASY one....honestly, well easIER....lastolite's ezybox. I have the hotshoe one for flashgun and also one for flashead....much easier, and no you won't poke your eye out with these :D (no metal poles!) as the cheezy expression they use goes "up in a flash!" lol

Thats quite a bit of money thou just for a cheapish softbox!

Make one it'll be cheaper and more fun :D

I did and it was fun to make as well as to use ;) It cost me...........£1.20 and I got to eat the inside of what the box had. Marshmallows

lol, yea yea, but in terms of 'lasting' and 'durability', etc. just depends on if you mind it looking like a homemade one or want something thats relatively tough, etc. :D

One of the designers at my works sussed out how to fold my 120cm softbox so I let her.....

I am thinking of building a massive one to take photos of clothing that I have to do regularly!
